I'm Asian, born and raised in Taiwan, and let's just say I won't be shy to smack my kid when they are out of line. It's how I was raised and I turned out just fine. Different strokes for different people with different cultural backgrounds I suppose. My fiance has no problem with that either (She's Vietnamese)

And obviously I don't mean a full beat down or anything like that. I meant taking a comb or something and smack them on the palms of their hands a few times.
After all, what's "go to your room going to do?" Kids these days got toys, video games, tv, and computer in their rooms, they are not going to learn from their mistakes if you tell them "go to your room". Hell, tell them go stand in the corner and don't move for 20 minutes and think bout their mistakes might be more effective.

Canadian parents SHOULD smack their kids. My parents did and I turned out great (at least I think *shrug*)

Not your problem as long as you're not the one cleaning the house...<evil grin>

Well my meticulous attitude with cars goes for the house as well. I wish I could turn it off but I can't, so I clean the house as well. Now the dishes I don't do cause she uses the dish washer and I don't believe in that machine. Why clean everything to clean it again, and may e a third time? Nope wash it by hand and put it up, DONE! I lived my whole life that way and I'm not sick all the time from dirty dishes.
