Work Performance Appraisal Complete.. Promotion!!

I was aprehensive about my performance appraisal. We have aquired a TON of new GM business (we are talking multi millions of $ in new business) due to Delphi's hardships and as a result IMO I had a tough time focusing on my objectives during the year - my supervisor obviously felt differently!

With the company I work for the performance appraisal is a very long process.. My completed performance appraisal ended up being 8 pages long.. Each objective that is set is weighted based on importance to the organization.

Well my performance appraisal was completed today and I have to tell you I was really surprised at how well I was graded....Cool thing is this process provides quantitative results that are used to determine how big a bonus the company gives.

On top of the bonus that gets paid out in Feb, I will be getting a raise and a promotion to Senior Quality Engineer (previously Quality Engineer level II).

I am sooo damn happy I just had to share....:woot:

Strange how we (me) tend to be our (my) worst critic especially when you are in a situation such as someone else appraising your performance

 

I think a lot of us are hard on ourselves which makes situations like that even better. It sounds like you are great at what you do!

Thing about the auto industry is that it is very FAST PASSED... being in the supply base you can go from shit to glory in a blink of an eye... so It's hard for me to really acknowledge what we have accomplished sometimes!!

It's just hard sometimes working on a global level, when doing things for multiple regions it is hard to satisfy all BUT I am learning that people resist change and as long as the end goal is achieved it is nothing to be upset with...

In the company I work for, when you get a positive performance appraisal it pretty much ensures you will not get fired - they have to have justification and that cannnot be done when your boss has marked you favorably (laid off is a nother story)

 

Yeah he is a real jackass, Sad thing is i have to see him first thing every morning when i look in the mirror.
