I can say that I personally think the roads in Seattle are horrible. Last night I was minding my own business driving home from a friends house. I was paying attention to the road and saw a HUGE pothole coming up, I couldn't go into the lane next to me because there was a car so I slowed down as much as possible and BAM! Now I have a bent rim with a blown tire. This makes me so frustrated, especially because I wasn't speeding which means the road conditions shouldn't be in the shape they are. Does anybody have any advice on what to? I am getting new tires and straightening the wheel, but anything away from that? Thanks Erik
sorry to hear that. had a similar situation last week, but luckily there was no damage. depending on if it was a state road or not, you could contact your states DOT and try and get them to reimburse you for the damage. i've heard of it done before.
had awful roads back in upstate new york when i lived there. i lived on the road where all the rick old people went to retire (my family did okay, both my parents were air traffic controllers) but we werent loaded like them, we had this huge pothole right smack dab in the middle of our road so some of the old rich guys (who let me detail their cars!) went dwn and complained to the county... they fixed the road like 3 days later!
I feel your pain as here in NY the roads take a toll on wheels. I had new rims on my DD for not even a week a couple of years ago . They a had a major pkwy that after a heay rain storm had all of the asphalt washed out of the poorly patched potholes . Which wiped out 2 rims on my car and there were several other cars affected aswell
I would take it up with the county where that road is. A road like the one you described shouldn't be causing that much damage to your vehicle, let alone endanger your life.
Looks like we're all in the same boat. We just have to grin and bare it. Pass at your own risk. You'll never see a dime...:shrug:
wow can't say I've ever had this issue here in Calgary, not that I'm saying our roads are flawless but I can't say I've ever damaged any of my rims. Sorry to hear that :comfort:
That is not only sad for your ride, but scary for your safety..cant hurt to contact your county..i would at least give it a run..i wish you luck erik
Our local paper once had a guy sitting in a lawn chair fishing out of a pot-hole one time. That should give you an idea!!
here in Puerto Rico we have pot holes, pot holes, pot holes, pot holes and pot holes. by the way we have crack wheels and many bents too. lol
