There both great buffers. And both have there pluses. The Makita has the bail handle, the Dewalt is heavier...which helps for metal polishing. You really can't go wrong with either one. I learned how to buff with a Dewalt 16yrs ago. But now the Makita is my machine of choice.

Why Metabo? When you have the Flex 3403 available.
And the Metabo overheats, not a problem with either unit in question here.

my concern on the flex is the low min speed. it states 1100 or so. i would like something to start at maybe 600 rpm, i dont ever go over 1500 rpm so 3000 rpm is pointless

There is only one thing left to do. Buy a Makita. Don't listen to whats his name...:thumb:

LOL Buddy you are too funny, but i think a makita is in my near future

oh and i checked the specs, my hitachi has a stronger motor and is cheaper. might get another one. looks identical

Just to play devil's advocate here a bit...

Since we're running these machines at about half their maximum speed, is a more powerful motor really necessary?

well i look at it more for durability not so much speed. a stronger motor is always better in my opinion. and its cheaper.

I have used the Dewalt and Makita and I have found the Makita to be better for a number of reasons
    1. The bail handle gives much more versatility
    2. The Speed dial is much easier to adjust and is much more ergonomic
    3. Much Lighter
    4. I found it to be quieter but that`s just my perpective
    5. Green is better than yellow :gross:

The Metabo is wayyy overrated if you ask me. It over heats too easily, mine started leaking oil, its not a work horse like the DeWalt or Dynabrade.

advs1- Have you taken a look at the Dynabrade?
