yes, and i don't care for it (traded one off). it's too thick and isn't pliable as well...

Race Glaze. It seems AutoWerkes (sponsor of DB) and PakShak carry them.

I have used the Uber sponge. It can be a hand held thick foam generator with certain soaps. If you let it absorb soap and then squeeze, thick foam exudes from pores.

I am more comfortable with wool mitts than sponges since I have used them more.

Lowes sponge works well for me and is very economical. I like to use the hd grout sponge for wheel wells in particular.

When you guys use a sponge, how do you get under door pulls, etc. A wool mitt seems to follow the contours of the paint better and I have to be more careful about missing spots. I do not use a lot of pressure with a sponge so I think the wool mitt cleans better.

Uber Sponge is very squishy. I squish it and slide it under the door handle, haven't had a problem with any door handles so far.

I did use the Uber sponge yesterday. Here is a pic of how foam is created just by squeezing the sponge. The soap was WG Auto Bathe. If I use Optimum (1/2 oz to gallon, I get shaving cream foam -- too thick).

The rinse buckets gets sudsy too....Note: The rinse bucket is on the RIGHT (taken at the end of the wash)

this is one of those subjects that seems to go back and forth. Mitts vs sponges.
I was led to believe that sponges trap the dirt between it and the paint work, where as the mitts (micrfibre or wool) drag the dirt into the fibres and away from the paint. Provided they are washed and tumble dried after use they are good to go.
I must say I use Microfibre noodle mitts. I find that after a visit to the washing machine with microfibre wash, and then a warm tumble dry, they come up like new again.

What is different about the Uber yellow sponge? Is the foam softer?

I agree with Al. I never liked the LC sponges. Too big and not very pliable. I still have two sitting around.

Thanks for the feedback on the lc sponge. I'm going to give it a try and see how I like it.

I use a natural sea sponge. when wet it is silky soft and easy on the paint. the sponge has natural pores in which to trap the dirt when using my ONR. the best part is the sponge releases the dirt it traps very well, so you start with a clean media on your next pass. the only real issue is making sure you rinse your sponge well , before the first use.

either lowes or HD sponges for me. They are decent and cheap. I usually throw them away after a few washes.

I love the uber sponges, but I don't like their new size and they are expensive. I only use mine for maintenance washes.

Thanks again for all the advice. I just picked up a few of the Lowe's sponges and have a question. They all have small "pulls" or whatever you want to call it along the edges. I assume it doesn't matter but wanted to double-check.

Also, and I know the answer is 'yes', but just need to ask one more time anyway: is it truly 100% ok to use these types of sponges on a car? While the sponge is soft, it's not Microfiber or Sheepskin soft... It just goes against everything I've learned on these forums to use something that is not super plush on my car...

Here is what I'm referring to (there are a lot more than just those 2 spots, it's generally all over the sides of the sponges, even though you can't really see any others in the photo):

it's normal (there's little pores all around the sponge so it's part of the process when they make it i assume) , and completely fine to use, get's even softer when it's wet and when there's wash solution on it. give it a try and see if it works for you, it's not for everyone like anything else...
