What tire protectant would you suggest?

wow......... Perl looks like a brand new tire basically. What is the longevity? Im using CG VRP on my personal car and get similar results, but the longevity is about two washes. maybe 3 if i dont use AGCWC on my wheels.

 

As long as it doesn't rain it maintained a very nice dark look for me. I would say about the same so 3 washes. Using AG CWC will kill anything on the tire.

it really depends, i feel like tire dressings are one of the most variable dependent products. I have a weekly customer that no matter what the weather is between its still there and only needs like half a spray on a applicator to touch up. Another weekly customer has a lexus IS (not sure what type of tire) but no dressing has been there the next visit. Ive tried multiple dressing on that tire with no success so that might just be an outlier. I do have some customers where I will come back 3+ weeks later and its still on there like the day I put it on. weather, miles driven, type of rubber all effect how long it stays on.

Bottom line is if I'm washing the car, I'm touching up the tire dressing so durability is really not the determining factor for me. Too many types of rubber that act differently.

I have noticed with (most) dressings is that if one side of the car is facing the sun and the other isn't, the shaded side will dry matte and the other side has that wet look even though dry. This bothers me.

 

Will try the Perl. I currently use FK's Top Kote wich I think is a great product! It beads water incredibly and lasts a few washes.

 

Another vote for PB Bold and Bright.

 

In an ideal world I would like to try every single tire dressing out there, but these are my experiences so far, no particular order:

1. Swissvax Pneu - 1/5 on gloss, matte finish, absolutely no sling at all, it has a unique look that I've yet to see from other products. Somewhat pricey. Doesn't last very long (2 days at most) Not enough gloss for my taste. Pneu has a glossy version as well, but unfortunately, it slings off.

2. Meguiar's Endurance - 5/5 on gloss, lasts longest (about 4 days), slings like crazy, super glossy gel. Messy to work with. Cheap. Smells like grapes.

3. Sonax Tire Gel - 4/5 on gloss, one step below Meguiar's Endurance on the glossy scale. Awesome look. Durability - the sling on the side of your car lasts a while. This thing slings more than the Meg's Endurance, unfortunately. I even let it cure overnight.

4. Poorboy's World Bold n Bright - 3/5 on gloss, wasn't glossy enough for me. No idea on durability, I took it off right away since I had to wash my car again due to the sling after one drive.

5. Adams Super VRT - 2/5 on gloss, minimal sling - were there is sling, it's underneath the fender fold areas, not all over the doors like other dressings. I didn't know that different dressings can sling in different locations of the car - but it's probably due to the consistency of the Super VRT - it's more like a lotion than a gel, and due to that, it slings off at a different vector...I guess. It's easy to apply and work with. Smells wonderful, like cherries I think. Lasts about 2 days before it looks dull and needs to be reapplied, though. Not glossy at all, one step above Pneu on gloss.

6. Wolfgang Black Diamond - 6/5 on gloss - this thing is THE GLOSSIEST thing I have ever seen on any tire bar none. Looks like the tire is under water. Durability - about 10 revolutions of the wheel and it's all over your car. High silicone content. Slings off like a sprinkler head. This is used for after you get to the car show!

7. Pinnacle Black Onyx - 4/5 on gloss - almost zero sling, lasts about the same as Meguiar's Endurance while easier to work with. Smells great too. This one really surprised me, I got a free sample from Autogeek with my last order and tried it. After my horrible experience with the Wolfgang variant from the same manufacturer, I didn't have high hopes. But it actually lasts a whole week for me on my DD and looks great with almost zero sling!

These are just my experiences with the ones I've used. Your experiences may very well be very different.

I do apply each of these dressings in the exact same way - on an applicator sponge and work it into the face of the tire until the product is evenly applied and all crevices around raised edges and lettering are covered. I DO NOT buff off anything after applying any tire dressing. For me, buffing off the dressing defeats the purpose of having a glossy tire. So the constant for my experiences is that they are all applied the same way without buffing. This will account for the sling on most of the brands I have tried, but it says alot for the ones that don't sling.

FYI my cars are white and yellow, so one dot of sling and I'm crying foul.
On a dark car you probably won' notice as much.

 

I always come back to my Optimum tire shine, been meaning to try out Perl tho.

 

I've tried Perl. Nothing special... But that was on tricky tires at a 1:1 dilution.

 

I tend to choose a protectant that leans towards the "like new" or matte shine look. Some times I do a wipe down after application to get this result depending on what I'm using. Since the overall look will vary depending on the tire composition, I tend to have several different protectants on hand.
