Keep the pad moist, this is the biggest issue with rotaries. The heat causes the polish to dry up faster. I always give it a couple of spray with a QD to get started and then a spray every few passes to ensure i break sown the ploish enough. This will also prevent the rotary from hopping

if you have any experience with a PC you'll take to a rotory like a duck out of water same process applies use the least agressive approach and less speed until your comfortable with the machine and familiar with the type of paint your working with..

To me the rotary is much more natural than a DA. I honestly had an easier time using my Makita the first time than my Flex orbital. Granted I did a lot of reading and research so I had a lot of information before I even picked up a rotary, plus the 3M backing plate helps!

Look at the Videos and read Dave KG's rotary polishing guide twice before you use the rotary and once again a week or so after and it will all come to you. The section where he talks about controlling the rotary with your back hand and slightly manipulating the natural "steering" of the machine is spot on.

Best of luck man...you will not have any problems.

Everyone here has giving great technical advice. The most important thing that I forgot which I'm sure you read somewhere. You need to relax and breath. the most important thing is to be comfortable when you start your project. that way you can learn a ton. Instead of fighting with the machine.
