That is one of the best quotes :headbang:

He seems like one that might be just out there to mislead the general public - If more people learn more about car detailing i am sure they would not allow the car dealers to detail their cars. Gathering the info that the forums all from nissan - i assume he works at nissan?

Just let him be - working with the pm system might be better for the rest that knows your work rather than having a sad endless confrontation with someone like that

    Just my :2cents:

Based on the looks of some of their cars, I think a lot of dealers have some of the worst detailers out there. It sounds like he may be one of the reasons why.

As has been said above - dont give it a second thought... clearly he knows best here, he's been doing it for years - or at least, that is what he believes and you'll never change his mind on this if he is set on rubbishing you and your technique.

Question: are you happy with your products and the results you achieve? If so, don't give two hoots what someone like this thinks. His posts are clearly not out there to be contructive and offer sound advice, so let them go.

Clearly he does work in a dealership, and his methods will reflect this - if he took an hour on a panel of one car to polish it, he'd be sacked! He's been taught to work fast, and this is likely what he knows - its very hard to re-educate, especially when you are going up against tried and tested techniques with a more modern thought and take on it.

Now I know very well what the likley results of machine polishing a whole car in an hour is, you only have to look at the car's on dealer forecourts around my way to see these "wonderful" results - hologram city. We all know what kind of results we get... But many will not care, and will refuse to be enlightened to what proper care with a machine can do - not everyone, but certainly some... with that some, its best to leave them to it and focus on what you are capable of. Dont challenge him, he's challenging you - let him. Post up some results of your work, and let him post his. ;)

PS - the latter of the two posters isn't really complimenting his work in your post above, more looking to see proof of its quality and I suspect the reason light shots have been asked for is to prove or disprove facts about how fast you can polish a car ;)

Wax for wheels eh? Here is where this guys logic again fails him.

If a sealant was ever made that would prevent brake dust from collecting on wheels and also last for any great period of time then why wouldn't they also make it for paint???? In other words if a sealant can stand up to the harsh abuse of a wheel then think how long it could stand up on your paint?!

Also, WheelWax has been out for YEARS.....it's not "new" and "just out this year".

Lastly, is he recommending an OTC product over a "professional" product that a dealer doesn't use??

Your work is your work. If you wish to do this for a profession then learn all you can from those who have been doing this since the dawn of time.....:) You (and so many other people out there) have the great luxury of the internet which is loaded to the brim with detailing information, both good and horrible. The task at hand is to be able to sift through the garbage and the pearls of wisdom.

When I started, close to 19 years ago, there was no internet (at least like we have today), foam pads were something rare and velcro backing plates were a "specialty" item. Today everyone with an internet connection, towels, soap and a PC is now a "Pro" in 5 hours or less!!

    Just take your time.

    Anthony

I think every local forum as some kind of guy like that. The thing with detailing, everybody seems to know what they're doing when they really don't have a clue.

I have a guy on my local forum, who is a "detailing guru". Like you he always has something BETTER then you or has done something similar or would have done things differently or would have used different product ya da da. Fact of the matter the guy is not the worst out there but just his attitude and his negative comeback is really irritating. Whenever I recommend a product, he always bash it and recommend an Auto magic product. Not that every product AM makes sucks, but the guy retails for AM...go figure...

Like everybody said....just ignore him and post you work and continue to give GOOD information to others. Smart people will notice

    good luck

Edit: nevermind I just saw he's challenging you again. Well, just ignore him :D. Keep doing what you do man!

Now you know that the internet breeds jackasses and that guy is surely one at the top of the pile!

I wonder where the moderators are? I can't believe that ass comes in and tries to take over without a word being said.

Hang Tough, he will get his soon enough.
