What Are the Superwaxes?

Well, if we are going to base superwaxes on durability, looks, etc. then Collinite 845, wet obsession and optimum. Glasur is great, especially on black, GlanzWax has some nice durability. My 1st jar of swissvax should be getting to me sometime this week. wanna try RBOE.

swissvax crystal rock is hands down the best wax i have ever used.. my main usage is in the 200-300 range meaning swissvax BOS, Concourse and Zymol Concourse... Bos is also amazing an easy to use wax that really holds up well and looks great.. Crystal Rock looks amazing and lasts at least 5 months for me.. i on top of jetseal 109.. it looked stellar and at 5 months i thought i could have gotten 7 but i prepped for the winter with jet seal and bos and at 4 months now i am doing great. still beading and shining nice. but not as good as crystal rock did at this time.. but is it worth the difference is up to you.. i like these waxes and can afford them.. they are definitely not for everyone but for people who are obsessed with keeping their car clean and or giving their clients the ultimate in car care. i am not a pro.. i do this as a hobby.


also i stress my honesty and the use of Swissvax Cleaner fluid... it really assists with bonding even with jet seal and jet seal and swissvax work extremely well together.. and it is noticeable to see when the swissvax is gone and the jet seal is left.. they do start to lose effect on the hood roof, and trunk panels.. but honestly i do my cars now every 5-6 months now and never see the pooling effect where water looks like it's sucked onto the paint in large pools and drains off super slow rather than beading or sheeting really fast..

Crystal Rock sheets off like crazy.. and when it mists it has crazy beads.. the only wax in this class i want to buy is vintage.. maybe mystery.. but honestly i would grab more crystal rock before mystery esp when we have no clue if it will be around forever.. final not i have ezyme with jet seal on for about 3 months on my 95 540 compared to when i had sv concourso on it with jet seal under it at this time the swissvax looked much better. in terms of beading and looks ezyme still looks great but the beads are the size of silver dollars not pebbles... where as concourso was like a dime.

here is my top five.. the rating scale is determined by gloss, depth, longevity, ease of use all witnessed by myself over the last year.

#1 Swissvax Crystal Rock alltime #1: best reflection, gloss, depth, longevity, and ease of use
#2 Swissvax BOS: not that far behind
#3 Swissvax Concourso: shinier than bos but bos has better depth, ease of use, and depth
#4 Zymol Concourse most difficult to buff off with marginally better looks and easier to use over ezyme since it didn't stain the applicator orange.
#5 Chemical Guys Ezyme great gloss but lacked in longevity and the greasy wax was kind of a turn off.. it melts fast.. easyon/off but i prefer the cure and buff of the others. still after a couple months it does have a nice gloss i must admit.. but under where all the others were.

and for the record i have used nothing higher than those waxes or in that price range. so those are my top 5 but all i have used in the higher end range and only the Rock in the super range. and just fyi solaris is for multi millionaires and billionaires that are crazy beyond insane about cars and have crazy ocd!!!

Totally agree with that statement there. Not trying to bash Dodo, but they know that people dont like spending hundreds of dollars on Zymol and SV stuff, so they say their stuff is targeted for a cheaper crowd trying to get the haters of Zymol and SV to buy there stuff. BUT ironically, Dodo came out with a $200 wax as well.

 

IIRC, Dodo came out with SN to compete against the likes of Vintage etc.

 

One of the most fascinating dimensions of internet detailing forums is how preferences in waxes differ from forum to forum. Over at Detailing World, for example, Supernatural enjoys a high regard among the brethren, many of whom believe that it is just as good a wax as all of the high-priced super waxes. However, even this regard is informed by a general conviction that prep is 99.9% of appearance and that waxes and sealants in fact add very little to appearance. Hence the recent comments of Dave KG, no mean detailer himself:

How do we negotiate and resolve this disagreement? Assuming excellent preparation, do waxes really make much of a difference? Will we see the differences in a blind test? How much of what we see is subjectively determined by our knowledge that we have just applied an incredibly expensive product? Do we only see what we want to see?

Being a romantic, I want to believe that the universe would be a lovelier place if different waxes really do make a difference to a car's appearance, though I seriously doubt that the difference in appearance justifies the cost difference. Crystal Rock costs forty times more than Collinite 915. Does Crystal Rock really bring a forty times improvement to a well-prepped car? Can such a belief be objectively maintained when 915 beat out Zymol Royale in last year's blind test? But I will continue to "believe," at least until more blind tests are undertaken and the results confirmed. Even romantics sometimes have to bend before the hard evidence.

No, not really. I imagine these waxes showing a bigger difference between each other on a surface that isn't "burnished" or "jeweled". I have yet to correct the paint on my personal vehicle. RBOE gave it a look that previous waxes weren't even close to. Would those same differences be noticeable on a perfect surface? probably not.

I also agree about some of the "super" waxes. About a year or 2 ago I did a comparison between S100 and P21S (which was twice as much). Both made by the same company. Only difference was the color and th "feel" of the wax itself. I got a nice shine on my black SUV with Collinite 845. So some of these waxes don't make that much of a difference. It's status and preference.

 

You'll like the Saphir. I have both Saphir and Smaragd but I find myself grabbing the Saphir from the fridge more. I don't know what it is but I like Saphir better between the two.

 

Hey Roger, I must say you have advanced a ton. What you've been doing is great. You finally made you're move and a good one at that. I'll be keeping my eye on you in the comming months. it's funny how the LSP (or cherry on top if you will) is what is given credit to any big detail write up when the polishing (ice cream of the sundae) is what actually gives you the results you wanted.

I'm amazed at how many click & brags i look at that show the car pre-LSP that look stunning. an LSP is introduced, and the end result is nothing more than previously shown.

some sort of rating system should be agreed upon for this if it's to amount to anything more than people throwing in their favorite name brands. many people assume an identity on other forums based upon what they use for an LSP, somehow making them more respected by some people. it's odd!

on the other hand (and as was mentioned before), no one can judge beauty for you. i know for a fact that a black Suzuki Samurai wearing Vintage is always trumped by a Bentley Drophead Conv. wearing Collinite!

I will say that my SuperNatural looked no different on my Mini S than 1Z Glanz. I'm sure durability is way different, but I could care less about durability. I want the best look I can get, no matter what the effort in application or wait time. $200 vs. $18 hmmm.

 

Kind of off topic but I always wondered. What does collinite smell like? I'm really into good smelling waxes.

 

Nothing to write home about... kind of "chemically" - that said, they're alleged to give outstanding results (especially bang-for-your-buck). I bought a "Collinite Trio" off of ebay (845, 476S, and 915) for $45 shipped. Hard to go wrong, and am excited to try them out (especially 915) once nicer weather's here... :waiting:
