    Results from
    EVO Magazine 2007 Tyre Test

The excellent guys at Evo Magazine have just published the results of their 2007 tyre test.

They scored each tyre in 5 categories - wet handling, aqua planing, braking, dry handling and a road test to judge comfort. They also back up the raw time data with subjective reviews on how the tyres felt which counted for 40% of the score.

    The results:
    1) Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric
    2) Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta
    3) Continental Contisport Contact 3
    4) Bridgestone Potenza RE050-A
    5) Michelin Pilot Sport PS2
    6) Pirelli PZero Nero
    7) Kumho Ecsta STP KU31
    8) Dunlop Sport Maxx
    9) Yokohama S.Drive

so my first thought is: " sweet... like i needed ONE MORE f*&king thing that i want to buy from Phil"

but there is no way. i have yet to ever ride a set of tires in metro detroit all the way bald. before one or more than one were sacrificed to the pot hole gods. and the every more important Discount Tire road hazard replacement thingie... (the fact that i dont keep my cars long doesn't count here in this post)...

so how many people really buy their tires from third parties like this and are happy? what happens when you hit a pot hole? and dont try to tell me NJ doesn't have any...

I have hit potholes yes, before all this line I took out about 7 BBS RC's on my 2000 S4 (in about 6 months lol) NY Highways, i just sucked it up and bought new tires and rims...for me (now I'm not speaking for anyone else here) I go out and pick up a new set. The insurance/road hazard for these companies never come thru (for me), I picked up insurance on 2 of my cars in the last 14 years (wheel and tire ins) and unless there is a cut on the side wall you are SOL. I put about 4 claims in and they said it was driver fault etc etc... so why but insurance?

I feel I can't mess around with tires and wheels they are pretty important parts to your vehicle :) so unfortunately I bite the bullet and buy new tires, typically two as I can't stand one side not being the same thread life as the other..I have issues but you all know that.
