I like applying the harder waxes with my hands. The heat from your hands does seem to soften the wax. It takes a few details to get use to it but I find I can apply very thin with my hands.

The 'scientific' reason behind this is hand application is an essential step that should be utilized in order to soften the compound and also to spread the wax without excessive waste? Estate waxes and glazes in their latent state are enzymes and when used the heat transfer from the warmth of the hands acts as a catalyst to turn the product into a wax ready for application.

The hands are non-porous and no carrier solvents will be absorbed. What is in the jar or tin is now in the proper concentrations on the finish. Bare hand waxing will benefit any wax-based product by any manufacture. In the right hands it could make the difference between a good job and an excellent job.

    a) Can you obtain sufficient kinetic energy (heat) from a machine / foam pad?

    b) With hand application utilizing a foam applicator its doubful

    c) Perhaps its all just marketing to make a very expensive wax even more exclusive?

I do it beacause its fun and theraputic for me.../

for me it takes more time, but i feel it is more rewarding because i get more even and better coverage, as well as getting more of an accurate feel for where and when i need to apply more wax

    I choose option "C":afro:

Using a heated foam app helps to apply hard waxes

Although, I do agree that it is fun and does have a cerebral effect for the user and the vehicle owner

Really? I've applied CR with my bare hands with great results. Its easier to control the amount you use, and and their isn't any waste from wax that builds in the applicator.

I never understood this. What do you guys do that don't have little sissy baby butt hands? Real men have tough skinned hands that would scratch the paint. ;)

it may be easier to control, but i doubt you can apply a thin layer with your bare hands as you can with an applicator. All excess wax is just being buffed off and not bonding to the paint anyway. I will occasionally wax with bare hand, but not with a product as expensive as CR.

not sure if this works but i apply Dodo Jucice RR with clean nitrile gloves. rubbed my hands together to warm up the wax and applied that way. I was afraid my hands would marr the paint. Found it to work perfectly for me. Only worry would be if i heating up the wax if any important part of the wax would stick to the nitrile and not the paint.

also a good thing about the Dodo Juice Soft Waxes is that i find them to be very smooth and oily, so even if you use your natural hands, marring or scratches from rough skin wont be an issue
