SuperBee364 Im still wondering what exactly you do? are you just squeezing out solution on to the panel, then wiping, then rinsing?

I just need a more detailed explanation as far as putting the wash media on the paint? You didnt that say you do that?

    thanks

It depends on the wash media, but if I'm using a (grout) spone, I squeeze the solution out as I'm *gently* wiping it across the paint. If it's not a sponge, I use the *fully* saturated media on the paint in small sections. No matter what media, I rinse after each very small area.

is this for more of a post paint correction wash method?

are you using the home depot grout sponges?

Yeah, for post paint correction washings on cars that are too dirty to wash touchless or ONR. I have been using Home Depot grout sponges (thanks to Spoiled Man's recommendation on "the other" board), but lately I've been using tufted MF mitts. I *really* like the tufted MF mitts. Very seldom do I even do a traditional wash, though. Only if the car is *really* dirty. Normally, I'll do a touchless wash (HP rinse, layer of foam, HP rinse) followed by a leaf blower to dry. If the car is still a bit dirty, I'll follow up the touchless wash with an ONR, or I'll use a boar's hair brush after the layer of foam.

Boar's hair brushes are another really great wash media. They flick the stuff off the paint, then push it in front of the bristles (kinda like a broom on your garage floor), rather than being pressed into the paint and dragged along it like a sponge/wash mitt. The problem with BHB's is they are *so* gentle that they aren't able to clean as effectively as a sponge/mitt. If you have an LSP that readily releases surface contaminants, BHB"s can be very effective wash media.

What are these tufted MF mitts that you speak of Supe?

I'd imagine it can't be all that bad for the suds to be going into the rinse bucket. I'd figure some of the suds have to be encapsulating the dirt and grime and bringing it with it into the bucket. The bad side is that it probably keeps some of the grime floating at the top.

hehehe i use the no bucket wash system. i break out the PW and foam cannon, spary with water, foam, wait rinse. unless the car is really bad. most of the time they are only repeat washes and i have already waxed or sealed the car. the foam cannon really makes it so i dont need a bucket. i can get a regular sized sedan done in 10 mins.

I'll take a pic of one and post it, Denzil. You'll know exactly what I mean once you see a pic, they're just hard to describe.

    Supe,
I woke up this morning to a startling revelation. How can you be such a fan of a foamer and not a fan of suds (which is in essence foam)?

Just a little something to ponder over?

I just blast the foam off with my pressure washer. No media is used.

When I do use media is when I hate suds. Running soapy water = flushed off particles = nothing stuck under wash media to abrade paint.

    1. HP rinse
    2. Foam cannon
    3. HP rinse
Usually done at this point, but if media is used:
    4. *suds free* media wash
    5.HP rinse

When using Buckets I don't generate any suds in the buckets and wash pretty close to the method that SuperBee described. I guess my goal was lubricity, and didn't really realize I wasn't generating suds.

I an currently experimenting with using a foam gun while washing as well (direct foam into point where wash medium meets paint), which is kinda funny cause i still use the buckets in the same fashion with this. So now basically I am adding foam to my no suds wash.

I guess I am still learning a wash technique for myself.
