Well wife forced me to go to church, just teasing we usually go to church on Saturdays and this time I thought why not take a detour on the way home and try to put my new photography skills to good practice, so I took the following pictures...oh I found out I need to clean my lens, well more like the UV protector rather then the lens...any who just thought I'd share:

    This is downtown of Calgary.

The lights here are of a small park near the river, nice little spot to go for a walk or a picnic.

    Just me fooling around

I've always wanted to take a picture where the trail of head lights and tail lights would be left, so this is my first time taking a stab at it, turned out okay but still needs more practice:

Well like I said just sharing.

Very nice photography! Those roads look icy in the last picture. On a tripod I assume on all of them?

Yes, I used my tripod, oh and yes still lots of ice it was also windy so some of the other pictures turned out with a slight blur, so out of the 50 I took only these made the cut . The ice made it a bit tricky to get a nice clean picture with the head light and tail light trail...the last picture was the best one I got

Thank's Denzil, but I still have a long way to go. The photography classes have given me the tools to improve my photography skills, I just need to put them to practice now. It's also nice to be able to capture what I've imagined in my head, better then just pressing the button and hoping for the best, like I used to do lol.

Thank you, question when you said chase pic, did you refer to the last picture? I know the effect has a name, the one with the head light and tail light effect but I can't remember the name, is that what the term 'chaser' refers to?

Thank you, but I got a long way to go. I'm starting to understand the concept of things and I can totally understand why most photographers weather it be professional or just a hobby photographer has a range of lenses. But my plan is maximize/learn how to use what I currently own and as I progress start picking up new lenses, body..ect..ect.

So far so good though :thumb:

Yes. I'm not a professional photographer...far from it. But that's what I've always heard it refered to as.

Nice pictures. What was the exposure time on those pics?

It was cold :shakehead: but it worked out okay, I could only take about 50 pictures or so after that wife started complaining it was cold so she ran to the car to worm up, when the temperature starts getting better I'll be able to take more 'detours' :thumb:

Oh okay, I've heard the term but I couldn't remember it.

To all these pictures the exposure time was between 20 to 30, it felt as though the shutter would never open again...I blame that on the temperature though

Great looking town Carlos. Keep them coming; the more pics of Canada I see, the closer I get to making the decision to move up there.

You'll like it here in Canada, weather takes a little getting used to but the people and culture make up for the weather...but that's just my opinion.

lol...well wife and I still take 'those' types of drives but not this time ;) Hey you got to keep the flames going some how right :cheerl:
