Thoughts on road trip tape-up jobs..

We use the Griot's Garage Road Wrap all the time, it comes in two sizes and works very well. Just make sure that there are no loose pieces or it will flap and scuff the paint.

I also use it to protect the fenders before putting down a pad or blanket when working in the engine bay, this prevents scuffs from the pad/balnlet moving around.
