I figured I would post this up for anyone who is looking for a new idea or two on how to market themselves. I am a member of a tennis club and heard that they were having a members networking night so I thought about it and figured I probably would not get anything out of it but decided to go. I created an album of all my favorite detailing 'after' pictures of my details, brought my laptop and TV, and a bunch of brochures. It was a success, much more so than I originally would have thought as this allowed me to really get a one on one talk with a potential customer to explain the value of a good detailing (not just another $20 wash) and ended with a number of interested parties. Bottom line is try out as many avenues as you can to get your name out! My setup (sorry for the sun washing out the pictures):
yeah, smart move. It's maketing to the right people that makes a difference. Narrow your audience and focus your time.
Mate, I could go for a nice game of tennis right about now. Nice little panini for lunch first though.
Good idea. Never be afraid to try something..the worse you can lose is a little time. The potential upside is big.
speaking of little things... I highly recommond making yourself a little binder or portfolio. Being mobile with a sign, I get a lot of walk-up business. They ask "how much to do a car" most of them have no idea about paint correction... I say "$fifty-five to several hundred depending on what you want" then they usually walk away now, I grab them with my binder first, show them the work I do and why I do a better job than the $30 car wash and what I am capable of. Then, after I explain my processes I tell them the price. Make sure you tell them the VALUE of what they are getting while they still have open ears, then come in with the monetary value.
