What should one know/consider before rebranding a product whether it be a straight up relable, a slight formulation tweak or a combination of two products to create one? Legalities... MSDS? All sales would be done at a local level. Thanks
I know of no law to relabel a product from a mixer...I do not think you ban buy a 55 gallon drum of say 3M ultrafina and call it justins Glitter Creme..lol...it has to be done with the mixer.... also some mixers do reverse engineering ..meaning you send a product to them..they will formulate if they can and tweak it a bit so its not exactly the same product so it does not interfere with Trade laws... there are quite a few mixers in the US that make products for the Boutique sellers...they can opt for the house brand and also a tweaked version and also have them mix a brand formulated to what the seller wants...which would include a chemist to make sure the mix will work...and then formulate it to a usable product.. this costs money... example...say you wanted a wax with no hydrocarbon solvents and all natural stuff like nut and fruit oils and other good stuff...the chemist will work on it(costing you money) get a product done..send youa sample..you try it..do not like it..tell what it lacks..he goes back and tweaks it..changes ratios...and off goes another sample..til you get what you want..and sends you the bill..lol....now you charge 79.99 a jar of wax to pay off the bills...lol Al
So let's say I have some spray products and I wanted to take some of product "A" that cleans well and product "B" that add some mean shine. Can I mix them and call it something else?
and sell it as your product ?....I am not sure...you may have to contact each company and see what they say ...the product is changed from the original ..but the chemical in product A may have a patent on it..see what i mean... Al

Just don't pull a PhantomGTO deal. Chemical Guys is certainly your friend if that's what you choose to do. I don't think there's anything wrong at all with using those guys to get your foot in the door.
Well I don't do washes - I have gotten many requests but that is just not what I want right now. So I am putting together a step by step DIY instruction on how to properly wash the vehicle so that my customers can properly maintain the vehicle until I see it next. While I was typing the instructions I realized there are a few products that will be needed to do the job.. products that I happen to use a little of this mixed with a little of that. I have also gotten requests for simple products like QD's soaps etc. So I am putting together a "how to wash your vehicle" paper and then thinking about selling a kit with a QD to be used to assist with drying, an lsp safe soap and an interior/exterior protectant and tire dressing.. in the lit will/would be drying towel, an interior MF, a tire app all in a nice little plastic container with a company logo on the case and logo/corresponding label for each product. Target audience is people that have never and never would even go onto a detailing site.. all my customers basically.. maybe sell at a couple small car shows. Also as I said the products would be a "little of this mixed with a little of that" all combo's I personally use. Just an idea at this point as I have a bunch of other business stuff going on right now

This really was spawned as a result of requests from my customers----- Something I am choosing to do to support their weekly washes.. makes me feel better than to just tell them that I dont do washes. This is like #3 in line of things on my plate right now... trying to do them all at once gets tricky!
