well i never said that swissvax was best for my car.i said i want whats best for my car and trying the so called "greatest wax" is something that i wanted to do. Also in PA waxes last about 3-4 months on average so i guess to me it makes a difference.i personaly enjoy the natural shine that a wax gives compared to the manufactured nano coating. it just seems to me like the nano coatings are too boring and IMO a waste of money. i know they are proven to work and it works for a lot of people but i enjoy using sealents and waxes due to their high shine and duribility.(here in pa) last time i checked AGHD and collinite last about 6-8 months...about the same as a nano coating.one bottle of aquartz does one car for $50. a pot of SV sheild does about 12-15 cars for $225.so really if you do the math where are you saving money?i guess it all depends on the person but i prefer waxes no matter how cheap or expensive over nano anyday.

yeah, I wish waxes worked out here better.......

Nano coatings are absolutely higher per application then a wax. and almost make the finish a "plasticity" finish.... and really do nothing to enhance a color like a traditional wax, I agree 100% with you there.

The look of a wax is very deep and warm, vs. a sealant. 1z that is on my wife's car looks far better then the permanon that I have on the hood, it is a noticeable difference.

yeah although i just tried powerlock for the first time on a customers car and it left a damn good shine.that will most likely be my go to sealant for now on.plus a little bit goes a long way.

Powerlock and two coats of any Carnanuba is an outstanding look......... I had 1 coat MPL, and two coats p21s last winter, granted it just rained alot and would ground freeze, but it lasted me 6 monthes no topping off.

only thing I did was wipe down with CG pro detailer.

I think Swissvax is the BEST... The CEO Georg spent about 6 hours with me at my house explaing to me everything behind the products and it's just mind-blowing what goes into every single thing they make...

Thats good as he is not willing to tell his own detailers or distributers whats in each products (well in the UK anyway) !

I have a serious question. In anything subjective, if it provides a similar look to a myriad of other things on prepped paint, but has a notoriety of not being particularly durable or having any significant longevity what further qualifies it as "the best:"?

Where I am from (the armpit of NY) you would have to seriously excel in a given category of something (not just price) to be considered "best". I mean objectively speaking because some people on the forum have 20/10 vision, others legally blind something has to be measurable beyond how far psychology of price= looks or performance equates in the wax and sealant category..

That said, I know a bunch of "cheapo" waxes and sealants that would probably obliterate the performance of many things out there now.

Now to be clear, I am not knocking the product or the people who like it.......

as in any consumable good, their is always the perception of excellence via price. Take Champagne for instance, you can buy a 10.00 bottle or a 500.00 bottle, what makes one better then the other? Well perception would have you believe the more expensive. But look at the product, basically the same, they do the same thing in reality, one just may have better marketing, packaging and the consumer ultimately pays for it. Both will get you drunk......... but what would you rather be seen holding?

I have always liked Zymol, and never even really heard of Swissvax other then some casual talk until I came here........ now its "the best", but I remember when Zymol was the hyped product of the detailing elite.

In fact alot of the product line is very similar in context, and price..... One thing I like about Zymol is they offer a "full range" of products with a price point from affordable to the absurd.

    I totally agree with mike.......

ok mike now with that being said i would like for you to name a bunch of cheapo waxes that perform overall better then the more expensive waxes out there...not just duribility but the shine, conditioning that it gives the paint and also the ease of application.im sure we would all love to hear what would obliterate swissvax in all of those catagories. cause after all its not just about duribility that a great wax gives your car.

and kilo im not a big champagne drinker but i will say that a $500 bottle of champagne/wine taste a hell of a lot better then a box o wine.lol and im sure some wineheads would definitly dissagree with that statment.they pay for the taste.(or to impress a date)just like swissvax/zymol etc. you pay for the overall performence the wax gives you.all in all everyone here likes different products.different products works better on different cars...its all about what works for you.besides what i have seen in swissvax my next favorite wax is lusso oro.which is $40. i dont care about a price tag.if i can afford something that works for me and the cars i detail then ill buy it.whether its swissvax or turtle wax.

I don't mean to side track this thread anymore than it already is but... do you guys have customers coming in for a detail asking for Swissvax? or do they only ask for it after you have educated them about the product?

P.S. drinking from a box of wine > drinking a 40 of Colt 45 in a paper bag

Nobody I know where I live even knows what it is, even the few other people who do actual "detailing".

Ive even asked a few other detailer's, and they are like "huh"?, but they do know what Zymol is....... I don't think Swissvax is well marketed on the west coast to be honest with you outside of automotive forums, In fact 90% of the people I have interacted with have no clue what correction is, sealant and use the term "cut and polish" its a very ignorant population in the Central Valley of California. There are a few enthusiasts.....90% of my job is educating people before even discussing options, so they do not feel like I am over selling them.

Most of the detailers where I live are immigrants from Armenia or Mexico and do hack work (typical 99.00 deals)....... and barely speak English. The drive through $5.00 express car wash is king out here LOL and detailing is not seen as a higher form of cleaning, its seen as on par with a house cleaner. But I do have my customers I have flipped.........

Most look at my STI and say can you make it look like that.......... "if you have the time and the money I can"

Swissvax is not well markets worldwide, in the UK I have to educate people but having the brand behind me helps as it sounds good but everyone has heard of zymol etc :(
