SV concorso problem...help

so i tried putting a second coat of SV concorso to my personal car(the soft wax) and it didn't turn out so well...

im not sure if it's a problem about the wax not being good for layering or what, but i have a pretty big problem...

well i applied the first coat about a week ago, and i used a applicator to apply it. i put a very thin layer, and it came off nice and easy.

yesterday i washed the car and noticed that it was barely beading anymore ( i had washed it 3 times already) and so i decided to put another coat on. this time i put it on with my hands like it says to on the jar. i waited 10 minutes to remove, just like in the directions, and then it says to wait 3 hours and buff it again. well here's where i might have messed up? i went out to my girlfriend's house of rthe night (in another car) and ended up staying the night there. i came back to the car in the morning, and the residue wouldn't budge. so i tried rewashing it with some CG Maxi suds II to no prevail. then i let it sit in the sun for a few hours (like it says in the directions on the jar) and came back and now the wax just smears around on the surface. so i decided i was going to have to take it off and try again. so i tried washing with P21sTAW and CG CWG mixed. didn't work. so i tried spraying P21sTAW straight to the paint and letting it sit for like 2 minutes. didn't work either. tired isopropyl alcohol (50/50) didn't work. tried CG waterspot remover, didn't work. then i tried CG blue clay. that seemed to take off the residue, but still left the surface kind of hazy. so now is my only option to polish the paint again and start over?


basically right now my car looks like it has holograms all over the place, but in fact it's just wax.

any tips on what to do next time? i want this SwissVax to work, but it's really frustrating me right now. and i don't think i applied too much because i only applied about half a pea size amount to my palms, rubbed it into my hands, and applied it onto the paint until it didn't spread anymore. i got about 1/4 of my hood with each application.

before when i used an applicator however, i used much less, but the wax never really seemed to bead well so i thought i had applied it wrong.

This exact same thing happened to me on the hood of my dads TL.

I told him to wipe it down later that night, and he didn't. Let it sit for a couple of days. He washed it, and it turned into a HUGE mess.

I ended up going over the hood with some Menz 085rd, and re-applied the wax.

The finish was HORRIBLE, and I was mortified of what I had done to the hood. But then I noticed if I rubbed my finger on it, the swirls changed directions. Really weird.

This was Smargd BTW.

 

yea, thats exactly what happened.... so was it ok after you went over it with 85RD?

you really have to follow the instructions or make sure you have the time to complete the detail.

this is really not product failure its a user failure.

I have this funny feeling either your car got hit with the sprinklers or it was humid and its caked on, I would have probably spritz some Swissvax Quick Finish on it or Einszett Detail Spray and used a good MF towel to remove it. Changing MF towels to a clean one after the wax got caked on to the mf towel.

 

well it's miami, so it's always humid...

but it never got hit with sprinklers. it has been in the garage. i tried CG speedwipe and that didn't do anything for it...i also used the CG MF towels, and i have tried about 10 different towels to try and take it all off, but still no difference...

i really don't think it's caked on, because it wouldn't even come off with isopropyl alcohol 50/50 wipedown!

 

wow I have never heard of Swissvax getting stuck for that long.

you got me typically a mf towel will take it off.

 

just curious what type of car is it..

 

2006 Jet Black BMW 3 series

the hood, bumper, and one fender have been repainted, but the problem is on the whole car.

 

it looks really good out of the sunlight, but in sun it looks like smears everywhere...

on a positive note, it does bead REALLY good like this

 

Ok go with 106 or 85rd and use a rotary or pc or flex and take the wax off that way. (blue pad or black)

It’s going to take some time. So don’t rush.

 

Wow I used the wax yesterday and didn't do a second wipe down and I think the car looked fine. The owner never called me up so I doubt it had this problem. I am going to give her a call later on to make sure the wax didn't reappear.

I have no bad things to say about SV.

 

i've layered concorso many times and it looks great. the key is to not let it dry.

 

Wow great information being shared here. I too noticed that when I applied Divine to my Volvo via German applicator I applied incorectly because the beading only lasted for a week, if not less. But I didn't have the haze problem though.

I would have to agree, in my case it was user error as the second time around Divine behaved as it should have....I still need more practice with Swissvax wax's though...but this thread it great to read as it's very informative and interesting to hear others experiance.

Yes, curious as to how one way to apply can cause a wax to last less than a week vs. applying it another way and it lasting three times as long.

I might have the same issue with Lusso Oro not lasting longer than one wash on my vehicles.

 

Well when I first used Divine on my Volvo I used the German Applicator and well I just don't think I used enough wax. I was getting really thin applications but perhaps a bit too thin. The second time I used Divine, I applied again with the German Applicator but this time made sure to get enough wax on the applicator and this time around the vehicle has been beading quite good.....I'm still playin around with the application but so far that's what I've experianced, hope it helps.

 

well, I had the EXACT same issue about a month ago on my M3...only with Mystery.

In fact the error was that I let it dry too long. That is the mistake you can't afford to make with these waxes. They cure fast, and they cure HARD!

okay, unfortunately like it or not...rubbing your paint any harder than light pressure (i.e. putting tons of pressure on it to buff off the dried wax) WILL leave micro marring.

at least it did for me...doesnt that just bite? All i did was try to wax my car and i ended up screwing the whole thing up! Well, I re-machined, re-SV cleaner Fluid'd, and re-mystery'd (this time with a foam applicator applying thin amount and buffing after 15 minutes panel by panel)

HERE'S THE HARD LESSON I LEARNED: its not only imperative to have clean tools (applicators and new soft MF towels) but also you MUST use correct techniques to the "T" or else you can kiss your flawless finish goodbye. ALSO NEVER try to do anything to your car unless you have at least twice as much time that you NEED on hand so that you can get the results you WANT

OH and btw...SV cleaner fluid would've removed it really easily. I had missed wax and let it sit for more than a month and a quick swipe with SV Cleaner Fluid and the wax was gone. If only I had known that before i let a coat of mystery dry on my car for an hour. oh well.....

 

and...applying a new coat of wax right on top of the dried one will soften up the hardened one and then just buff it right off (thats actually an old detailers trick to get 2 coats with buffing twice)

 

sorry been a bit busy...amp just put up the two answers I was going to put up.

Polish it back out with a polish like Menzerna or Swissvax cleaner fluid the later was what I mentioned first and then another coat of Concorso to soften up the first coat.
