I have been on the bleeding edge of Technology for almost nine years. It wasn't until the iPhone that I ever had buyer's remorse. It does do a lot of things but I find it slow to load detail sites as well as most other sites that I frequent. My iPhone gets hot to the touch when I do a lot of surging. Battery power is a little suspect as well.

I am mad that the people designed the iPhone to have less than my old Razor. I have a wireless headphone that is stereo, comfortable, really carries my voice without wind noise and I thought that it would be great to use with my iPhone when watching movies or listening to audio books. Alas, the designers of iPhone will not allow use of this device. You can talk on the stereo speakers but as soon as you turn on a video the screen cancels the headphone saying it is not allowed. The iPhone should have univesal connections not proprietary.

I call the iPhone the Bleeding edge of technology not the cutting edge becasue of these limitations. It is all about the money and not what it can do for the customer. It will be a while before the makers of the iPhone get anymore of my money. There are other more accomodating companies out there that give more rather than incorporate features that limit you.

I honestly wish that I had my money back!!!

My Nokia 770 surf's the web and makes internet phone calls better than the iPhone. It has more games than you can shake a stick at ....all for less that half the price and without a monthly subscription. Sound is good with the movies I have watched and the battery is better and the screen is bigger all the while I am still able to carry it around in my pants pocket.

I'm not sure what's going on with your headphones. The jack on both iPhones is simply a mini-din connection like any other device. The only downfall on the 1st gen model is the recessed plug.

As far as browsing goes. The sites can load excruciatingly slow over edge, but you are loading the FULL version of the webpage. Over Wifi it's very speedy and I've not gotten impatient waiting for any pages to load. I don't think the Razor or the Nok 770 load the full webpage. I think they re-render them in a more mobile-friendly way. I'd have to check them out more closely. I may go grab my coworkers Razer to check.

I love my iPhone. I wish I had the 3G one with GPS but this one will do fine for now. :)

The Razr I had does not load web pages but did allow the use of my headphones the iPhone does not. The Nokia 770 does load full pages. Looks and loads as fast or faster than the iPhone. Of course the iPhone works well as a phone I am sorry that my first generation iPhone was designed with limitations in mind.

Maybe the new ones address this issue but I will not find out since I feel as if I have been burned once already.

I waited in line for 6 hours to get mine. I'd do it again.

3G is a lot faster than Edge was. The browser is a lot less buggy. Reception is better, and the new one doesn't run nearly as warm as the old one. The App Store is great if for no other reason than the New York Times newsreader, which is slick as hell and free to boot.

My last phones were a Nokia N75, followed by a first generation iPhone. I'd been a Nokia fan for years, but the N75, the first Symbian OS "Smart Phone" was rubbish. Battery life was good for less than an hour of talk time. The browser sucked. The MP3 player sucked. Both of them broke in under a year, the display packing up on both of them. I hated it.

At the moment, I have no need for a Blackberry for work purposes. I wouldn't foot the bill for a mobile phone for work purposes on my own dime regardless - if people at work want to get me on a mobile, they can text me. Or now, AIM me.

I'm no Apple bigot, but this is the most cleverly engineered little device I've ever owned.

Browser is precisely the same between them. Same OS version. As far as heat, well we all know metal conducts heat right? Plastic is an insulator. I could only imagine with the GPS and 3G chip the iPhone 3G actually runs hotter.

It'd be interesting if anyone could get so me thermals from inside the casings.

That's funny, who knows what the first generation cost but remember no one is forcing anyone to purchase the phone, people need to remember that businesses are structured to make money so I don't get the issue with the iPhone and it's price  we all make choices

I think the video is funny though :thumb:

Once you get the hang of it, you'll by typing lightning fast. It'll auto-correct too. I just downloaded 6 free apps...got my lightsaber app last friday...one of the ones I just got tonight is called iPint, LOL.

Seriously, this phone kicks more ass now that the App store is out. And I used to be the Anti-Apple!

Yes, the typing for me was quite easy too. It's amazing how sensitive and the technology behind the phone is mind blowing. I cant get over all the features it has, very impressive phone WOW. I have to admit I'm impressed.

Well, the browser is definitely different than the one that's on my first-gen iPhone prior to the release of the new software. Since I got my 3G a couple days after the new software release, I never bothered to update it. I should have been more specific.
