I got into detailing when I was 12 years old. My dad would leave his truck with orders to clean it from time to time. Cleaning evolved into waxing. In high school, I would buy waxes and protectants, etc with my allowance money to use on my parents' cars before I had my own. I then turned into a product junkie. Still am. Sometimes I control it better than others. Money pit..Yup.
My go to sealant LSP is Zaino. It just fits my bill for a lot of what I look for so I don't really have a sealant collection. I just skip the zfx step though, I think two layers initially is plenty, overkill with ZAIO foundation, and it doesn't have too great of a shelf life. Detailing began when I purchased a new car together with my old man. The dealer actually didn't do anything to the car for us, which at the time I expected them to. So my dad asked his friend to recommend a detailing place but he ended up recommending a friend who maintained his car pretty well. He pretty much taught me basics, but I wanted to learn more and ended up going online to learn everything. If only he could see me now! My dad thinks I'm a little crazy but he definitely appreciates how the car still looks better than the day we got it, and how I've managed to fix up our other cars. At first I tried sticking OTC if I could, but it was impossible. Going through all the detailing forums it slowly became a hobby and I wanted to try some other products you don't typically find in stores. I'm sure for most of us, detailing isn't a chore, but more of a relaxing past time. I'm also sure my neighbours think I'm crazy... crazy jealous that our cars always look so good!!
my personal car has 10 coats of Z5 and grand finale spray seal...... looks amazing. But i dont use it on customer cars, simple like i stated its too high maintance for most average people. I still have zaino, I use there clay bars and leather cleaner, its tops. one thing I did recently was put two coats of powerlock over the zaino, and then 1 coat of p21s 100%, it is unreal how it turned out......... Zaino is good stuff but as i learn about new products i have sort of given my zaino a break.
