Hi everyone, newb chiming in here. I can't wait to see the final results of this challenge. Is it just me or does this remind anyone else of the fight scene in "West Side Story"? Instead of knives, they're going to use buffers! lol :buffing:

On a serious note, I hope that you come out on top of this. Not only does this so called "detailer" do shoddy work, he doesn't know how to conduct himself in a professional manner. You did the right thing by not hurling an insult back at him while in front of your customer. No need to lower yourself down to his level.

boy do i have an update for you guys!!

ok you ready?? i spoke with my friend the manager, i was trying to get some idea as to when this is gonna happen, cause i wanna get paid!! he proceeds to inform me that, get this, you ready... they fired the guy and want to replace him with my son!! he asks if my kid would be willing to work there full time as the detailer/painters assistant. they had him fill out an app and will know monday if he got the gig. guess i will be doing the car alone now. sucks man, i really wanted my iphone. oh well its probably better this way and things always happen for a reason. but on the other hand i was really looking forward to doing the challenge. i had my D300 ready to go and even got a new memory card.

 

man its like good/bad news lol great to hear you son got the job and can do some good at the shop, but sad to hear we wont be seeing the idiot get his ass handed to him. but anyways congrats to your kid :thumb:

 

Congratulations to you and your son. They must be impressed by him if they fired the other guy and want to hire him. Speaks volumes for you as well.

On the other hand, I'm sorry that you were denied your chance to school that hack. Rest assured, however, that he's probably at home right now counting his lucky stars that he didn't get embarrassed by you. I'm sure that he was not looking forward to that challenge.

 

funny thing is that this is the second time they fired him! why would you rehire some one you've fired. i text my friend and asked him what happened and i guess he got up in some ones face at the shop. its the second time in a few months and they were worried it would escalate into a physical altercation.

but yeah my son is pretty excited he might get the job. he has worked with me for a while and is not to thrilled we dont have as much work as we used to. so it'll be good for him and a little bad for me. i know if he gets the job i'll get slammed the next day with work.

 

Thanks for the update and news, which sounds like the manager made a wise choice. The way the economy is, take what you can get. This is one ending that wasn't even considered, but worked out for the best, good luck for the both of you.

The old cliche "everything happens for a reason". Sometimes it's not even apparent to us at the time. We were all awaiting to see someone who truly deserves some Karmic ass-kicking get one but instead of that short-term gratification, your son gets to have some more independence working for someone other than dad (which I know by experience can be difficult at times). It's never our words as detailers, it's our work. Yours speaks volumes; you did not need this competition to prove anything. The other guy has no idea how to deal with his jealousy.

 

Ah too bad, but congrats to your son hopefully he will land the job :thumb:
