If you take the time to get the finish as close to perfect as you can via polishing, then the LSP will have very little effect on the finished look. The photos I've attatched are of a Ford F100 I recently did. After finishing with PO85RD, I did one side with Colli 476s($15) and the other side with RaceGlaze55($130) and you can't see any difference. I will post all the pics shortly.

Too be honest you will NEVER be able to capture what a wax truly looks like by taking a picture, no matter how good the camera may be. However agreed that the polishing stage will do the most for the paint look wise, but each wax does have a somewhat subtle difference when pulled out into the sun. IMHO i feel you can't just split a hood into 4 sections and be able to pick out the wax. You have to apply the LSP to at least 1-2 panels and then compare looks. Yes most of the times i can pick out the better looking wax, but if someone were to do a car with a wax and ask whats on it I would honestly have NO clue.

I was finally able to get a good look at the condition my Cosmic Blue paint is in. Gawd I wish one light source was able to show every defect regardless of angle or spectrum...I know, I know, perfect world etc.

What sucks is trying to recreate early evening, say 7pm, direct sunlight, where it's not so bright as to blind you when reflecting off the panel. Something tells me I'm going to have to use SIP and that I induced more swirls than I thought.

Anyway, I know that paint prep has much more of an effect than LSP, but I want an LSP that's going to cater to my completely subjective, it's-more-expensive-so-it-looks-better, in-my-opinion, ego side...know what I mean?

Plus, it's a present to myself. No other car will see the SN/Smaragd/Concorso. My dad is so happy with the detail I did on his 530i topped with 845IW and I didn't even polish it....heh, I gotta be able to impress him next father's day!

I agree with you that so probably wouldn't be able to guess what LSP was applied, my comment was that with very good prep, in a side by side comparison, it would be almost impossible to see the difference between most LSPs. I'm sure Vintage, Crystal Rock etc would be the exceptions, but most of us aren't using these, yet.

Isn't Dave KG doing a meet coming up soon where he'll let people guess was LSP was being used? On vehicles that were prep'd identically the same way?

It's going to be fantastic, cannot wait! I think it'll probably shock quite a few people, piss a few off and really excite others.

What about the Fusion. It's a little cheaper than the Swissvax.

I did one of those awhile back. Here it is. Almost looks like the same truck except for the wheels!
