Well I've had this sample sized pot of OE that's been telling me to use it. Before I had the radiator issue I applied 1 coat and then the car proceeded to sit outside for a month. I thought it was time to add another coat after I cleaned the car up a bit. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my full pot of OE shows up tomorrow. During this long weekend I had a few shows to do so Friday morning I decided to add some more OE to the car (I used NFS to clean up the paint before I applied the OE). I also decided to apply this coat by hand. I figured what the heck it can't hurt anything. Well I learned that I need more practice applying wax by hand. Some how I managed to apply too thick of a layer (IMO) to the paint. Removal wasn't that bad, just wasn't as easy as it should have been had I applied a thin coat to begin with. Here are a few pictures and you guys can be as critical as you want. Darned pollen. Ben if you'd like any of these photos be my guest or I can send you the original files.
LOL. Honestly I was lucky to get those photos. It was a busy weekend. I did no less than 5 shows, and a lot of talking. I'll get some tomorrow for you guys. Have the perfect place in mind too.
Hmm, for a sec while scrolling really quickly I thought you had an insane amount of flake in your paint. Imagine my reaction when I saw that it was pollen lol Looking good :applause:

RBOE is the stuff. By the way - engine bay looks great too. I just did the CD2 thing to my daily driver CRX and...I hate it. It looks all shiny, which I suppose is fine, but that stuff makes working on the car a real headache. I much prefer the look of your engine bay, and I bet it's not misery to do work under there either!
It's pretty easy to keep my engine bay clean. Luckily no leaks (radiator aside) and not a lot of tight places to deal with (yet)...LOL
Not the place I wanted to take photos today, but I ran out of time so I took some pictures outside of my apartment. Yes, that's a couch you see waiting for the bulk item pick up. The joys of off street parking. :shrug:
GTO looks fantastic! How is the RBOE to apply and remove? I may have to add yet another wax to my collection.
For me there's a learning curve to applying by hand...LOL Honestly it's pretty effortless even with an applicator. If you get a thin layer applied removing is a breeze. Very little if any dusting. Results are great.
I experienced the same thing as Shauna. My first time with it, I used entirely too much, and put it on too thick. I'm certain that I wasted a lot of product. Ben's suggestion in his instructions - rub your hands together repeatedly, look between your fingers, that kind of thing - is right on. I just reapplied for the first time since July, and I've gotten a whole lot better with it. OK, after writing the above paragraph, I spent about an hour watching the US Open, and then went out to remove the RBOE... I may be applying too much still, as a single pass doesn't remove the stuff altogether. But here's what I'm finding works really well for me. I take two or three of my best microfiber towels and go over the car (a Honda S2000, small car) once. Then I take a break. Once I'm ready to go back at it, I get out my "special super duper" towel - one of the super plush ones from Phil - and buff it one last time. This seems to leave no traces of it, apart from a glistening wet look like I posted photos of in my own review of RBOE. Can't wait to get it out in the daylight tomorrow!
