This is a follow up on my recent "Collections" threads Unfortunately no pics for now but it will be updated again soon since I need to do the RX as well lol ------------------------------------------------ Rubbish Boys Original Edition Wax This is my first wax that I have imported exclusively from Europe. I was actually expecting a lot out of this wax and it did not disappoint! It looked great when you took it off. Didn't mute flakes but actually enhanced them a bit. Pros: -Smells of Orange Rinds -Slightly darkened the shade of my ES -Very easy to apply even though it is a hard wax -Normal wipe off procedure after wax had cured -Looks AMAZING after Cons: -Takes a hell of a long time to cure due to high carnauba content and slow evaporating solvent (7+ hours in the shade for me) -Streaks when you take it off so you need to do a wipedown again with a clean MF towel -Sweats if it does not cure all the way (at least 2 days worth in the sun lol) Verdict: Loving the wax, just wish curing process didn't take ages for me. I will be experimenting with different environments for the curing process to figure out which one is the best. Will definitely buy it again. Trying to figure out if it ever dries in the US before saying that it only needs to sit for X amount of minutes. Could be a WOWO product for all I know right now :shead: --------------------------------------------------------- Prima Banana Gloss First Prima wax that I have tried. Supposed to be applicable in ANY condition since it immediately hazes up after. Also supposed to add gloss to the finish. Great for those detailers who are low on time and have not protected the car yet. Pros: -SUPER EASY application -Smells nice -Instant haze -Very easy removal -Increases gloss of paint -Durability= ???? (not tested) Cons: -The fact that it was the consistency of water threw me off during the application process so I spilled some on the ground.... Verdict: Great for if you are in a hurry to slap on some protection on your car. Did exactly as it said. I'll be buying this again for me and my customers vehicles to use. ----------------------------------------------------- "Swissvax" Style Brush Originally purchased from Michaels, I wanted to see if this would be a great alternative to everyone's favorite wheel brush. Its made in Germany and the ring around the bristles is the same material as the SV brush. The bristles are stiff but soft enough to not harm the finish of the wheel. Didn't shed much hairs (occasionally 1-2 pieces per car) and performed quite nicely. I am picking up more before the only ones left are made in China lol Verdict: I like it. Works for me and I don't mind if it sheds every now and then. Cheap alternative to the real one. ----------------------------------------------------- Collonite 476 This is a new wax for me. Completely blew away my thought of applying waxes "thin." First application was done by hand and I put too much. As a result it was like concrete. I used my entire 1L mix of Last Touch to remove it off my car. However, my next application was done by machine on speed 1 with a 4in Black LC pad. I wet the pad by soaking it in water and then spin drying it. After that I placed the pad inside the can of 476 and turned it on speed 1. That gave me enough to do 2.5 panels and each pass was SUPER thin so this will be my method from now on. It was easier to remove than by hand. Pros: -easy to apply by hand or machine -easy to remove if applied by machine (for me anyway) -gloss level increased in paint -supposedly LONG durability -3.5-4in pads fit perfectly in container -redefines your definition of "thin" Cons: -hard to take off if applied by hand (for me anyway) -has a learning curve to it -redefines your definition of "thin" -need to keep a screwdriver or something flat handy to take off lid Verdict: I don't know if I like it yet. My Collonite 845 seems easier to use. For now, this is...AWAITING VERDICT BY ME since I need to figure out how to use this thing
Thanks for a review. So, Rubbish Boys OE takes a little learning curve, huh? Wonder how it is compared to Souveran Paste in terms of ease of application, durability, and gloss...
ok so it would be better if you put Swissvax style.. you cannot say it is the same material just by looking at the brush with the naked eye or testing it.. that's like say plastic bag A is the same as plastic bag c b/c they are made from poly... what if one is .05 mil and 2 is .75 mil do you think you could tell the difference? why not just say a brush similar to swissvax from michaels.i want to go to michaels to find this brush just to show the difference. could you take a pic of it. there are a million brushes and tons look the same from the outside but too many are absolute crap.. and the solvent or water based adhesive they use loosens. plastic isn't all the same let's put it that way!
Well, I was going on based off of Ben's How To Use thread and it said to do a swipe test. Thankfully I called it quits since Ben said that it never fully dries so an hour is good enough for it to cure. Can't wait to put it all the way on my car :applause2: Sure thing. Just giving a helping hand out since I rarely see people post stuff about Prima :shead: :thumb: I guess I can take a snap shot later. Iono, it seems pretty solid to me. I'll change the name I've given it to avoid future confusion :thumb: Seems quite promising. I used it on that 1994 Dodge Caravan I posted awhile back last time. Definitely did what it said. I'm just hoping it lasts 30 days or so :headbang:
Give us a pic of the Swissvax style brush? I've been thinking that any good artist construction type of brush will work if you ring it out and don't use too harmful of chemical.
I've never had to leave RB OE on for more than 30 minutes before it had cured and it has never ever streaked for me and I've used it about 10-15 times. I always apply it in my garage but I've applied it in fall, winter, spring, and summer without issue. I do apply it very thinly as per Ben's instructions and I always apply via a heated foam applicator so not sure if a different application like by hand or unheated applicator might render different results though. You are right that the look is nothing short of PHENOMENAL!
Yeah I haven't got my OE to fully cure all the way either. I left it over night and the next morning it was still pretty "wet". It was only a test spot though I have yet to apply it to my whole car.
Here you go bud Yeah, I'm guessing its still my technique or something. I seriously need to play around with it more haha Haha, considering you have nothing to do at night, why not let it go and leave it on your hood while youre at school or something? Maybe it'll dry in like a couple days
I just picked one up this weekend. $3.50 on sale. It's not as big as the Swissvax brush but its just as soft.
It's possible the co. that manufactured that brush is the same manufacturer for the Swissvax brush. You mentioned that it wasn't as big......I believe the Swissvax brush at one point was smaller in size.
