I finished up my friend's cars Tuesday afternoon. My goodness am I sore. I didn't realize just how much the UDM vibrates until about day 3 and I could barley hold on to the machine. I also figured out if I'm going to be doing multiple details I need more than the UDM to get the jobs done. Not all products are created equal. Some work better for different levels of "decay" if you will. I enjoy detailing even though it's brutal on your body from time to time. I'm not sure if I'll ever get to detail some of the cars I've seen posted here i.e. the exotics, but I'm very happy with detailing older muscle cars. Just something about the curves and the lines of the cars that's really cool to me. At some point i'll sit back, grab a beer, and flip through the pictures I took and admire my work...LOL:drinking2:
Yeah, detailing could be brutal sometimes. At the end of the day, the satisfaction i get from seeing a very clean car is enough to make it all worth it. I only detail as a hobby and by the time I'm done compounding with my Flex, my back already hurts and usually continue the next day for polishing/finishing. I might get a rotary so i can finish faster with (hopefully) better results. Btw, i lived in St. louis for a few years when i went to St. Louis Univ. My uncle was a physician at the Lutheran & Alexis Bros hospital. He lived in Chesterfield but had an apartment in Russell Blvd (zip code 63104 i think) where i stayed most of the time. Cheers!
After having used Dust2Glory's UDM, it's probably the worst machine I have ever used. It vibrates more than a Dutch whore during an S&M party. HORRIBLE. I couldn't use that thing for more than 5 minutes at a time. The PC is a lot better in that perspective. The Flex is worth it's weight in GOLD!!!
P1et, the Dutch whore vibrating at an S&M party sounds pretty bad :yikes: unless you're into that sort of thing. After using the Flex it also gets my vote. Great machine, very comfortable does the job fast for a random orbital. :thumb:
Now that's a riot. Love your sense of humor. My hand and arm is still tingling a bit and I haven't picked the machine up since Tuesday. I might actually consider selling it and replacing it with a PC just to have with the Flex.
Trust me Gary, that's a LOT of vibrating, hahahaha! And you're right, the Flex is a top machine, quality build and a real correction MANIAC. I know exactly what you mean in regards to the tingling. Sometimes it can last for quite some time, it's just not worth it. Sell the UDM and get the Flex!!!
I remember I got that feeling when I used the PC. Detailed ever day for 2 weeks. Lets just say I bought a Metabo
The vibration problem has dogged the UDM since day one, despite assurances that they would be lessened. Fortunately for the detailing community (and no small thanks is due to ZoranC for bringing this great machine to our attention) the Flex does all the things the UDM promised and so much more
