I run a V1 and it has been a great helping as I drive on the highway all the time. Now this may be surprising as I am 22 yrs old and drive a GTI but I hardly ever speed at all...speed limit is 65, I am the one going 67 in the right hand lane and only going to the left lane to pass...haha...so you may ask why do I have a Valentine 1? Well it was a bday gift from some friends after I got my GTI as they thought I may need it.

The new Escort Redline looks interesting.

I'm a fan of driving, sometimes it may involve driving at a faster rate than posted. I feel there is nothing wrong with having the proper equipment to protect you when doign so. Now I am not at all condoning traveling at super-sonic speeds on a public roadway, but depending on the weather and road circumstances, so not see a reason why some "spirited" driving should be potentially penalized with a citation.

Taking into consideration one minor speeding violation, one's insurance premium may increase, hypotehtically speaking, $100 for a 6 month period. This increase usually lasts approx. 3 years. At this rate, you would have saved $600, aside from the potential citation toward speed tracking hardware. And in that on case, when the moon and stars align, and you are possibly traveling slightly over the speed limit, and nature is calling (this happended to me before, hence being scarred for life), you can and will be pulled, such speed monitering system detection, I feel would be justified.

Now the question is, what to buy. I myself have pondered a V1, but then you are exposed to Laser. Although Laser is not as commonly used, it is still an exposure that I would wish to have some sort of grasp on, leading to laser interference devices.... What to buy, what buy...

I've learned that in many cases, you acknowledge what you were doing - don't try to play the cop for stupid - and you may drive away with a warning. I've seen people talk themselves INTO a ticket. Conversely, if you are pulled over by a State Trooper or a bike cop, rest assured, you're likely gonna get pinched - their primary function is traffic enforcement. But, suck it up, bitching at them for doing their job isn't going to help your cause. Kinda like complaining to the fire dept. for getting your carpet wet after they saved your wife, kids, dogs, cars and possibly your house!! And, you might just stimulate his interest in your defective headlight, tail light, turn signal, etc. Could find yourself needig a ride home!!!

    Rant over....Game on!!!

Very true. If I get pulled, I just pull out the necessary info tha twill be asked with the window rolled down waiting. I'm a fan of cooperation, it didn't me this last time, and I though I was going to sh*t myself.

I completely understand that the judge would favor the trooper over me any day.

THIS is what I meant when I said the cop was a scumbag, I apologized to Richy for saying this because I do realize i was offending every cop by saying this, family members of mine included, but its just the fact that its all i see in NJ. Here are a few examples, Many many years ago when i was a baby and lived in Paterson a bum wandered into our porch and tried to break in. My mother called the cops several times and do you think they ever came around??? nope. The other time was when my fathers truck was being stolen ,they showed up 5 hours later even though the station was not that far from where i lived. Another example showing what the mentality around here is..In my global issues class last year, the prof asked when you see a cop, what feelings or thoughts come to you. Everyone, and i mean everyone in the class agreed it was fear. We came to the conclusion that even if one has nothing to hide, we feel nervous when being pulled over, because as I myself have experienced, we get unfair tickets. I'm not saying I havent been guilty of speeding, but man sometimes its just amazing the things some of the state troopers around here try to pull. I hope Richy reads this and understands that state troopers around here are notorious for hiding and doing things the wrong way in order to give out tickets. Again I apologize for insulting cops and I will remove it from the origianl post, but im sure many of NJ natives can back me up in saying that they also feel the same way.

I know that but honestly i drive pretty slow most of the time and i always out of respect and other things roll down my tinted windows when i see a cop. i know they fear for their safety when approaching a vehicle with tints. Also my tints are for medical purposes, not trying to hide anything. And my HIDS are for good lighting, i dont care how they look on my car as much as how much safety they bring. Many times before having HID's people have almost side swiped me on the highway. Now with HID's they are aware im pulling up next to them and i can clearly see way ahead of me at night.

This I understand, i have encountered good cops who look to help the community and do the right thing. But when it comes to NJ state troopers, Its well known in NJ that they have no respect for any other departments or people on the road. Dont get me wrong, like i said i have family and friends who are cops but honestly they are the nicest people I know and they say the same about cops who operate the way the one I encountered last night did. I just feel cheated when for example a cop from your own town pulls you over 2 blocks from your house to give you a minor ticket. I beleieve that if your not swerving in and out of traffic and causing a real risk for other drivers, police should not waste gas and time on pulling you over and issuing you a ticket that will cost you hundreds of dollars.

I generally set the cruise to 5 over, but once again, having so many ponies under my foot and the rumble of a Subaru boxer engine sometimes gets the best of me. I'd much rather be protected in a blanket of radar eating diodes all the time just for a little extra safe feelings. My STI driver is fantastic -- it's also one of the few devices invisible to radard detector detectors (yes, they do exist)

My system was carefully chosen to be completely stealth (you can't tell it's installed unless you're looking for it) both visually and to technology. I don't find myself using it often, but the 3-4 times I've had to it's definitely paid for itself. I believe the entire system was around $1,600 or so when I first bought it. I wouldn't be surprised if it's come down. But if it's saved me four one hundred-fifty dollar tickets, that's $600 in savings alone, plus insurance premiums on an already expensive vehicle to insure.

    I'm very happy with it.
