Hello all. Im going to be polishing off my hardbody soon on my Mach 1 since i recently purchased a daily driver and the Mustang will be garaged and driven once a week, thus a super durable nano isnt necessary so i want to pamper my beloved ride with one of my premium nubas. Ive corrected/polished many vehicles, usually after final polish ill either do an IPA wipedown or wash again followed by IPA. My question is this.... How many of you use a QD before applying wax? Ive always gone straight from IPA to LSP. But recently ive been thinking that a QD would help remove any IPA streaking and also make the surface slicker for a thinner easier coat of wax. But the idea of a QD worries me in the bonding process of a paste wax or sealant. Any thoughts/suggestions are appreciated, and wax friendly QD suggestions are welcome as well. Thanks
I am in the same boat, I would go straight from IPA to LSP. I am not sure if a QD will affect bonding or not, but typically when I apply a wax, if there is some streaks or anything from IPA, the wax makes them disappear. Also, why not just apply a wax over the HB, why do you need to remove it? I am not sure about ALL waxes, but I have read of people putting wax over HB...just a thought...especially because how will you really know when the HB has been polished off?
I usually dont get too much streaking with IPA either, i also usually do my final wipedown with a brand new MF. The reason i was considering a QD is that it would make wax application super smooth. But to be honest, i bet a glaze would do better. So final IPA wipe, Glaze, wax, that may be what i do. Ive thought about putting my wax over HB, but Wolf Chemicals Nanos are famous for being non stick. I think a wax would go on there but it wouldnt last very long. Before i polish off the HB i planned on doing a little test to see if wax would stick, i think itll be ok at first but after a couple washes itll be mostly gone. As far as knowing if HB is polished off, all it takes is a final polish, HB's durability is AMAZING but i can see that its already failed on the ver bottom painted parts of my car near the road, this is from road rash, like dirty rain water tthats abrasive enough to remove it, its the first place most LSPs fail. Hardbody is very chemical resistant but it stands no chance against a polish, lol. Im fully correcting so i know itll come off. Plus im trying to go back to a premium nuba on my mustang, i may layer it atop a sealant for the added protection we will see.
