It seems like with every detailing sponsored forum there is this promotion activity where key people review products for detailing sellers. For example, you will see an announcement for a new product and then magically several people have already received this and always seem to provide positive comments on the product.

I can understand this but it seems to happen so much I am getting fairly skeptical to a lot of the reviews. It is pretty clear some forums rely on certain people to help promote products. Everyone has favorite products and proud to mention them at every possible chance but this promotion side seems to taint this. In some cases, it is just shill but it goes on in less obvious ways.

The most recent example is one seller markets a product that it is the same as a product that has been out there for some time and yet when the seller announces they have a "new" product, get samples to several people that post positive reviews, all of a sudden something has been discovered.

    Just interesting....

I agree with you, have seen this many places. But don`t feel it is like that here? Or is it?

Maybe you are referring to beta testers? Even though those who produce products do their own testing, some companies use beta testers who live in different parts of the country. That way they can get feedback on how products react in different climates.

You have to be your own judge on if a product is going to work for you. Not everybody's results are going to be the same. If you are not sure if a product is going to be the correct product for your application, you can always wait for more feedback from other members.

It's nice when the reviews have lots of pics, that way you can decide for yourself. I have seen lots of reviews on tire dressings that were way too glossy for my taste and would not buy the product as a result of the review. It gets harder with polishes and the like b/c work time, temp tolerance and so on make it different for people. I usually hold off until I've seen several from names I trust and then I'll try. I hate having a huge inventory of stuff...I want what works well and consistently and when I find it, I stay with it.
