Why is it at the end of political ads they say--- My name is blah blah, and i approve this message. But what gets me is, its the people that are running for office that say this crap. My question is. If you didnt approve it, why would you (the person running) spend your money on the ad or commercial.

Why cant they say- Well we have 5 extra seconds and we couldnt think of anything to say, so vote for me!! Or someting to that effect. Not approving a message you just got through giving. I wish they'd get a job.

    Sorry For the rant.

My name is Heath Day and i approve this message.:deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse:

I think the politicians have to say this due to some legislation passed approx 4 years ago or so. I believe this is so the viewwers know if the politician made the commercial or if it came from a special interest group such as Moveon.org or the Swift Boat Vets, etc..

Those are fairly recent. They started either the last election or two.
I thought that they were put in place to combat smear tactics. The candidates would say, I never approved that. It was some maveric on my campaign committee that took it upon himself.............
I'm not sure so it very well could be to balance special interest/campaign air time.
