So this may be a dumb question but does anyone know if you can polish flat black vinyl? the reason i ask is because as some of you may know my car was involved in a hit and run and was in the body shop for a while. When i went to pick up the car it had been washed by the hack detailer in the shop and needless to say things were messed up. the factory flat black vinyl on the door pillars are all scrathed up and i wanted to know if maybe 106 on a black pad would do anything for this. I know this works on clear film so maybe it does on this?
There was a post on here just a while ago about maintaining the matte finish on cars. You may have to hunt a bit. I know Richy was involved so search through his threads.
Do not polish flat black paint, you will make it shin! If You re talking about matte plastic, like what is used on B pillars on doors then you may be out of luck and have to look to see if the ship will replace them. Chemical cleaners should only be used on matte paints.
thanks for the responses guys, i didnt remember richy polishing them. I going to have to ask him if he delt with actual paint or vinyl material. I know he said paint on the thread but the shot of the hood scoop looks like its wrapped in vinyl instead
thats the thing, it looks exactly like the flat black vinyl i used to wrap my roof and front bumper with. ill try to get a picture up to show what i mean
I think i know what you are talking about. It is a paint when they get scratched. On my GTI I have gloss plastic, black, and you can correct it a bit but I got sick of it and used vinyl and warped the B-Pillers. I would do the same if you can, talk to the shop if it is there fault...may be a dead end but never hurts to try.
yeh i mean it wont loko any different if i wrap it in vinyl as its the same material, just annoying that its all scrathed up. i actually for got to mention that at the shop i told the owner that it was scratched and the "detailer" tried to fix it and just made it worse what i see myself doing is maybe acquiring some dg 105 eventually and then testing it on some of the scrap vinyl pieces i have from when i did my bumper. if it looks good ill try it out on the pillars
If you want something to put on matte vinyl I use Opti-Seal on it and works great, so does SV Insignis (expensive but great wax haha) Opti-Seal works great on matte paint/vinyl.
