The Gloss it products I've used are actually pretty nice. I wouldn't let what people say about Rich stop me from trying his stuff.

Question, Is Rich allowed on this forum so he can defend himself against a rather one sided attack on his reputation and his character? The times I've talked with Rich he was a pretty decent guy. Plus, he is no more full of himself than some of the superstar detailers around here that I've dealt with. He was always generous with his knowledge and his time. I dont think its fair to rip the dude IF he cant come on here and defend himself, thats all. Honestly, I'd be fuming if I read some of this stuff, if it was directed at me.

True. The tire shine is pretty good (only product I've used), but there are almost always good alternatives.

Rich is lurking on this forum (as of 8-1-11) - his name is Mr. Gloss.

I'm not trying to rip anyone from NJ, but I've noticed a higher proportion of arrogant people from the Tri-State (predominantly NJ). In fact, I believe he was from somewhere in the upper-NE.

He's generous because he likes the sound of his own voice, and he wants to sell you product.

If he wanted to defend himself he would, but the fact is he has screwed over a lot of industry veterans and he has nothing to retort.

What is really sad is there are a few products that Rich had made that work really well, TRV is a great trim dressing and so is the Satin Leather Polish. The wheel gel he came out with worked really good as well(Not quite as good as Sonax FE) but safe for any rim finish but when he told me what he was pricing the product at I said "Your making a mistake..........price the wheel gel below P21S", which at the time was the best non acid wheel cleaner you could get.

Because I did not "Drive a Z06" and a truck with Focal speakers how could I possibly know anything as I was not a "Success" financially, integrity is it's own reward and your reputation is priceless and once it is sullied it is near impossible to regain.

I hope that Rich can find his soul, and start living life without charades and bluster or it will end badly..........count on it.

On the surface it does look one-sided, but you were not in the "Inner circle" of what happened. Of course he is fuming.............and he wants to kick my butt(Not as easy task by a long shot) but he created this mess , also he broke the agreement he had with Richie and myself and when he texted me recently saying" But I did not say what I said on the forums" which is so silly it almosts warrants a no comment................

When I am contacted by guys telling me "Rich says he taught you to detail" and when I had in my opinion evidence he tried to hurt MY BUSINESS and Richies.......................enough is enough, he caused these issues and is sole the owner of them, he had a honest, talented and hardworking crew(Bing, Dave and I) who defended him and in my case did many things for him without the compensation I should have recieved the "Karma" finally did it's thing

Naaa.. NJ is filled with some of the best people in the world. Contrary to popular belief, we're not all that bad out here. In fact most people who leave NJ, dream of coming back one day. Its a great state. Think about it, in one little itty-bitty state, we had 32 inches of snow 6 months ago and last week it was 108 degrees, all in the same year.. Bruce Springsteen, Thomas Edison, Derek Jeter, Bon Jovi and Jack Nicholson all from the great state of NJ. I am proud to be from here. You would be too...

Well Jimmy, He still has you listed twice.

Out of the twenty listings I can only count five that are actually affiliated with him.

I find it sad when 75% of his resellers have left him alone, but yet he is still trying to hang on to what he doesn't have.

He also lists his own company, Granite Auto Grooming as a reseller.

Do you know how to tell if Rich is lying...... his lips are moving!

The list as it appears on his site.

Lol I guess he can't read text messages, the sad thing is I don't live in Texas anymore! Also, I don't think Ultimate Shine is a reseller as I know Paul he's the one who got me my Festool Rotary I'll have to ask him. Richie, you and Bob will get a good laugh out of this apparently the Wax It reseller called him and said his product blows away Swissvax and he is selling 15 grand a month for gloss it. That came from "Ming's" mouth. Wonder what the real story is haha

You guys give way too much attention to this man.

He is probably laughing it up right now, you should just ignore him and the few others that bother you, they know it gets on your nerves???

While Rich may be a bad business man, he seems like a decent happy human being.

Maybe we could here his side of the story???

I never met the guy personally but I strongly doubt he can be laughing this up. Forums can either make or break a product especially specialty products like Gloss-it (specialty as in non OTC). Will Rich respond to this forum? I highly doubt he will. His response/defense will only add fuel to this fire and that's the last one he would probably want. He's probably just going to keep quiet and hope that this whole thing blows over.

    Fact:

.You have never dealt with Rich
.The story is one sided because it is true
.He is a member here and can defend himself(How on earth that would be possible.....)
.The statement "He seems like a decent happy human being" is so misguided and devoid of facts it is "Comical" remember assumption "Makes a A** out of you and me" except for the "Me" part of that saying
.Over seven guys posted up the EXACT same experience with him

Someone is always "Slow on the uptake" in these situations...................."Being duped" is something that some people have to experience for themselves in order to learn, Grizzman I suggest you sign up as the newest "Signature detailer" and let us know how it turns out with the "Decent happy human being".

Since my name has been mentioned on the last page i feel like i should step in and say a word.

Mind you, i'm not trying to start an argument here, i'm just going to state how my relationship with Gloss-it and Rich has been.

Me and Rich from Polished Bliss go way back. Started our Businesses at the same time and have the same ideas on how to run a detailing business in general.
We sold the same brands so when Gloss-it came popping up i looked into it.

That's how i got in touch with Rich (GI), he took his time (many many hours on the phone) explaining where his business was, where he came from and why he basically started producing Gloss-it products. He also took his time to explain how the products worked and was very supported during our 6 month testing period.
During this 6 month testing period we called at least once a week, most calls took over 2 hours ! Even though i wasn't a customer yet he took his time for me whenever i needed it. These talks were very positive for me because like me Gloss-it is a relatively young and inovative business / product and it just confirmed my confidence in his business and products.

From the start i knew who Rich was an what he was made off. He has a certain way of saying things and has a certain attitude. I'm not like him in any way, but it know there are many people on this world and that there are as many different personalities as well.
From the way he says certain things you should know that he is bragging a bit or "being funny", and again, there is nothing wrong with that IMHO. It's just his way, if you know it i don't see why that is a problem ...

From the moment i got on board as a reseller he has been very supportive of our business and has helped us out whenever the need was there. Again i can't fault him on that.
The only problem we have had up to date was that the amount of cases on the pallet was not as we ordered. Rich has always accepted our remarks and fixed it on the next order no questions asked. If he wanted to rip me off, he could have done it already ...

Now onto my biggest point !

To me this seems like a very personal attack.

I haven't heard a single complaint of the products outside of the hazing issue of signature gloss ...

I have read only positive comments about the Gloss-it products ! And now i see people saying they will drop the products regardless of the fact that they think it's awesome. This just because some of the things mentioned in these threads ???

I think you should evaluate the product and not this one person behind Gloss-it. There are many people (including myself) that now sell and rely on the Gloss-it range of products. The products are awesome but are being put in a negative light because of a few people that can't get along with one of the people behind it ? I don't think this is fair.

I have read both of these topics and all i can tell is that people love the products.
The only negative comments i found were about the Extreme Cut no being powerfull enough compared to Menzerna compounds ... offcourse it isn't, it's not a compound ! The compound is going to be released soon , please evaluate that against a menzerna compound.

The other remark was the hazing of signature gloss. We ourselfs have had the same problem in our studio and together with rich we figured out what we were doing wrong. So this is a question of knowing how to apply the product properly. The ease of use of this product is indeed a negative point.

To summarise: I don't feel that you should attack an individual to hurt a certain business. The business is much more than that one person behind it and i don't think you understand the implications of what you are doing by writing these things on a public forum.

Regardless of the fact that the business owner is someone you like or not, you should be looking at the product not the person. That is the only thing that counts at the end of the day. Why wouldn't you use a good product if it exists ?

PS: We do sell about 15k worth of Gloss-it every 4 to 6 weeks, so he sure wasn't lying about that :thumb:
In fact, it's our second best selling brand just behind Swissvax !

Mind you, this is in the Belgian and Holland market, which isn't even as big as the state of California ...

This reply wasn't aimed at anyone specific, i just felt i should also highlight another side of the story. I hope i haven't offended anyone in doing so.

    Kind regards !

Thanks for the input but I think you missed multiple people saying how poor the polishing compounds performed.

Back on the main topic - for the most part people are value driven, but more and more people considering whose pocket their money winds up.

Not only that, there are tons of alternate products and companies to chose from so now it's a matter or price, performance, point of purchase, and where that money winds up.

Plus, I feel the topic is not addressing GI product line as much as we are warning potential distributors by offering our experiences.

never heard of the guy, or have any interest in the product, but I agree with Chaseme 100% people are becoming more educated where their hard earned money goes. Or who they invest in, I think it just as important as the quality of a product.

  18. Wax-it.be

    Wax-it.be Virgin Detailer

    I think i did mention it ;)

And just to stir thing up a bit, do you know who's pocket the money winds up in if you buy Meguiars, Swissvax, ...
And doest that even matter when you are buying a product ?

If you are buying other non detailing products (food, furniture, cars, movies, ...) , do you also take into account who's pocket your money ends up in ?

As i said before, your money ends up in a lot of pockets ! The business depends on a lot of people doing their part and earning a living from it.

If you'r buying a product it doesn't end up in the owners pocket alone. It ends up in the pockets of the employees as well, and all the suppliers and suppliers employees and so on ! For example the bottles, labels, advertising, ....

I personally try to watch my money and where it goes, I don't buy from Apple, Walmart, Gap, Banana republic, or Old Navy, chevron, shell oil, BP and many other companies who I dis like there business practices, how they treat people, or even their attitude about their competition or the customer all the way down to their supply chain etc.

but yeah, you cannot control 100% of where all of your money goes, but you can certainly try.
