Anybody play? I had a bad fallout about a year or so back. I can't remember how much I studied hold'em and I read at least three books, played numerous times per week. I just couldn't catch a break for my life with cards. I always got screwed over. Recently I've been thinking about getting into it online. Can't get my damn debit card to work though.

i use to play online, was pretty successful for about a year or so. everything changed when i jumped into the high limit tables. :shakehead: i swear the high limit tables are somewhat rigged!

I love poker. My two roommates played for 1 year for a living. Actually right now is a horrible time to start playing because the Feds are seizing money that is trying to be cashed out. they are calling it money laundering. I would steer clear right now.

I think the biggest thing with poker is to let things go. If you hit a bad beat, just forget about it and move on to the next hand. That's probably my strongest quality as a player. You can't let the past affect your play in the future in a bad way.

I play on Pokerstars, as well as live cash games and tournaments. I also play in a local league. There are few places I'd rather be than at a poker table.

Yeah I know, I tried not to every time you get a good hand and you get a bad beat, it takes a toll.

What I do is I analyze the hand completely after the cards are shown.

Say I'm dealt Ah10h, and the opponent who is about to give me a bad beat is dealt 3s4s.

Even if I lose on the river, I know I was winning the entire way through. If I know I made the right plays on every betting round, I will pride myself on doing the right thing. If I happen to not make the right thing to make that person give up the bad hand, then I will use that information and take that into account for the future.

Knowing I made the right plays really helps me mentally take the bad beats. It tells me that I'm playing everything correctly, and that I should just continue doing what I'm doing.

I love poker very much because it is so incredibly advanced. I usually have to calm my mind down when I'm playing because my head's just racing!
