so my idiot friend backed into my GTI the other day. i was awakened at 5:30am by a phone call from him asking me to come outside and that he had hit my baby. for what its worth, he drives an Honda Civic Si. **** JDM (sorry for the language).

first and foremost, please excuse her status as being: filthy. i was planning on doing a full detail with correction this past weekend, but obviously thats out of the question for now. the adjuster FINALLY came out this afternoon, and graciously removed the dirty and road salt with his HAND and marred the hell out of my paint, which i tried to capture in the night time pictures. needless to say im a mess over this. im very particular, and the mere fact that i can no longer say my car has a flawless body infuriates me. plus, the car only has 5,100 miles on it. getting the whole panel replaced it out of the question, as its welded to the frame, and would have to be cut with a torch, peeled back, cut from the frame, peeled back, and so on and so on, like a sardine can. very invasive and labor intensive, so its going to have to be pulled and filled, which i am NOT happy about. now im thinking about the condition the car is going to be in after the body work is done. the guy im taking it to does great work, but i cant help but be worried about having to refinish the whole area myself. im going to correct the whole car anyways, but still. the guy from the body shop pretty much told me i couldnt have been hit in a worse spot. ugh, enough of my pity party and on with the carnage:

this area there is a small ding that the adjuster spotted, possible as a result of the impact. he did me another solid and removed the dirt and salt by hand:

yeah im glad he fessed up to it.

now that im looking at the pictures im feeling more upset right now about the marring by the door handle where the adjuster dragged his stupid fingers across. i mean in person, its BAD. he really marred it UP.

thanks roger i appreciate that. trust me, she'll need some serious machine work when its all said and done. i have not corrected her at all yet, and with this rough winter, and now the carnage, its gonna be ugly.

    ill keep you posted.

So sorry. I think your buddy should let you have a go at his girlfriend. That should even 'er out! My Passat was actually backed into at the dealership after being PDI'd awaiting the new owner to pick it up. Same spot and they did replace the panel. Large bill. Just make sure the bodyman blocks out the filler with a very fine paper or in a few months as the filler cures, it'll pull the primer and paint into the sanding lines and you'll be able to see the patched area.

haha funny guys. i've got my own beautiful girlfriend which i am priveleged to "have a go at" whenever i want (and shes always all for it!), and my friend is single anyways.

911fanatic: thanks for the tip in regards to the filler! i'll be sure to bring that to my body mans attention. like i said, hes really good so he probably will laugh at me when i try to repeat what you wrote, but just in case....

haha nahhh i dont hate you for that. im just a die hard VAG head thats all. and considering the vehicle that hit my car was a civic Si, for the time being thats how im feeling. its like the age old rivalry, except in my case, JDM came out on top :gasp:

    ....THIS time.

Those pictures are TERRIBLE. not the quality, but what the insurance adjuster did.

Sorry for your loss. Sucks that it's no longer a perfect vehicle without any repaints.
