I agree, I take the Ultra Mega for men and sometime will supliment that with B6, B12, Folic Acid and a 83mg asprin. I will also occasionally take some additional vitamin E.
No its not the same thing but it functions the same at less cost and that was my point. Go Greens (24 Packs) By: ToGo Brands This stuff is pretty good as well.

I bought some really cool food, i picked uo the most buetifull red pepper, some organic steak, nice little challot..I hate to admit it but i was pretty gitty... it was an awsome trip... one thing that caught my eye was organic goats yougart.. i had to pick some up. I have fallen in love, its a really creamy smooth yougart. The fat molecules are smaller then from cows making it easier to digest... its awsome.... i was really excited by all the wonderfull organic food I picked up and just had to share
Can never quit.... love my supplements Used to do some shows with BSN and Gaspari. Today i use a few different proteins and try some different things, but drink my MonaVie, and greens+ everyday
Will all that natural sugar make you hyper? Fruit drimks that seems like a lot of sugar to me :shead: Sorry to hear about your father!!! I hope everything works out OK!!!
Goats milk is also good if you are lactose intolerant. My fiance is lactose intolerant but I can't get her to even try goat milk. :shead: I love going to whole foods but it is a little more pricey.
I'm all about eating healthy, and I do drink a shake after my workouts, but I'm not sure if I could go out and start taking pills and all that crazy stuff. A little much for me.
Supplements, especially protein are way over rated and way over used. Id say the majority of the people taking them don't need to take them, dont know how, when, or why to take them, and aren't benefiting from it. And it could actually be decreasing their health. Seems like they just go out and get some protein or creatine because their friend is taking it or they heard itll help you build muscle. If you don't get an adequate amount of vitamins through a regular diet, then I think a multi vitamin is a good idea. Same thing with fiber.
99%of the population would benifit from a good multiupliment (having vitamins, minerals, and phytonutirents), the probelm is out soil has been depleated of a good chunk of its nutriants due to over farming and production farming. Decades ago farmers used to rotate crop, this allowed for certain nutriants to be used at one time, the next crop would not require the same nurtiant to grown and would replensish the lot nuritant. This ment that when it was back to crop 1 the soil was good to go again. We have turned to mass farming, in which we grow as much as we can in as small of space. We no longer have crop rotation and resting soil becasue its to expensive. This means the same crop is growing in the same place year after year, it eats the nutriants in the soil. We can add itwith chemicals but its not the same as mother natures replenishing process. So you can eat a ton of good, healty, naturaly organic food(organic helps reduce chemicals ingested into your body) and still not get all the nutriants needed to be 100% healthy... I will agree lots of suppliments are over taken, esp poorly desgined multisupliments in which you pee everything out becasue its not well balance enough to be absorded... protient is also something over taken, however most people dont get enough in there diet, and when they do get it they eat it all at once. There is nothing wrong with a protien shake (a small one) during the day even if you dont work out. The body loves protien and needs it to survive. The trick is to spread out the protien intake through out the day...starting with breakfast... eggs, protien powder on cerials, even legumes will be good.... On a side note, i had a prof who was very into nutrition and taught me alot... a person should eat all day Breakfast--snack--snack-lunch-snack-snack-dinner-snack-snack-bed These snanks should contain protien but not be huge... I often get 100g of turkey and eat that.. I get some protient, its not to much and life is good. so yeah most people are taking crappy suppliment that do nothing to there health, however with alittle research anyone can find an awsome suppliment that will help them.... I know in the past 5months I have started taking a great suppliment (i used to take a crapy one) and have noticed a world of diffrence, i feel better, look healthier, am happier... so dont write suppliments off just yet
Supplements are just what their name says. Supplement! Meaning that food needs to be added with the supps. Dieting is monitoring you food and caloric intake. Not just cutting back. One of the best things to do is eat breakfast,to jump start the body to burn up what was consumed earlier. Eat more often. 5 to 6 small meals is better than 1 or 2 large meals. I have done my share of eating clean and working out. I use to compete in amateur bodybuilding competitions. It is alot of hard work. At almost 51 years young, I still hit the weights, and Love it like I do detailing cars. It is a Life Style. Here I am a week or two ago. Feeling Good too!
I bet a lot of people use supplements as an excuase to live an unhealthy lifestyle. It's like saying that it's not good to eat a hamburger, but it's OK because there is a leaf of lettuce on there. I try to eat healthy and I exercise a few times a week. I look good and I feel good. That's the most important thing to me.
its a multisuppliment.... so its 3pills you take 2 times aday.. there is a vitiam pill, mineral pill, and phytonurtiant pill...the company that makes it owns the farm, manfacturing plant, and distribution of this multisuppliment.... its rather expensive at about 80bucks a month but to me its more then worth it....becasue im not trying to sell anything i wont list what the suppliment is, however i will do what my educator did... give yu 10 questions to ask a supliment proiver... if they can say yes to all of them its a good suppliment......just give me a day or two to conatct him and get permision to post it you are totaly right, you still need to eat, suppliments just help make sure you get what you need
Sorry, I should of been more clear, I was talking more specifically about protein shakes. Not supplements as a whole. Although I believe creatine is another one of those supplements that is over used and many dont understand how to use it correctly. I did a project about protein shakes my sophomore year for nutrition class. The RDA for most adults is .8g/ kg of body weight. This varies depending on if you're a vegetarian, athlete, body builder etc. Protein plays an important role in building new cells and tissue, repairing damaged structures, regulating metabolism, and maintaining fluids, electrolyte balance, and bone strength. Too much protein can cause increased nitrogen levels, gout, osteoporosis, reduced kidney function, and possibly some cancers. Just like anything else, whatever protein the body doesnt use is turned into fat. However, too little can cause edema and several other diseases. But studies have shown that the majority of Americans actually get plenty of protein through their diet. Your total caloric intake should only consist of about 15% protein. The thing you have to be careful with when taking vitamins is the body can only absorb a certain amount of a vitamin at once. And taking certain vitamins can increase or decrease the absorption of others. So before you start taking them, know how they react with each other, and how much the body can absorb. And of course know how much you should be getting and the difference between water soluble and fat soluble vitamins.
as promised I contacted the gentleman who taught most of what i know about nutrition, him abd a friend wrote a book called the secret of supliments, the good the bad and the totaly terfific. hre is a websire for info on the book Phyte Media Inc. - Secrets of Supplements: About but basicly in the book it explains the reasoning behind these 10 questions.,,, 1. is your milti-suppliment a plant-based product that includes vitamins, minderals, and phytonutriants? 2. if the multi-suppliment is plant-based, is it derived from a variety of plants? 3. if the multi-suppliment is plant based and dervided froma varity of plants, does the maunucturer own its own land and grown, harvest, and concentrate its plants? 4. does the vitamin C suppliment contain the whoke plant concentrate, including associated phytonutrients? 5. are the suppliments certified organic from the soil and seed up? 6. is the disintegration times on the tablet about 30min or less? 7. does the manufacturer voluntarily adhere to good manufacturing practices from seed to end product and to the concoul for responsible nutrition for its fish oils products? 8. does the manufacturer assay its entire line from hevy metals, microbiological contamintants and pollutants, and desiriable nutirant compounds? 9. does the manufacturer have published bio-assay that i can easily acces? 10. does the manufactuere publish an ORAC score on its anti-oxidents that is based on a wide range of free radical groups? a great suppliment provider should be able to respond yes to all these questions, if they canot then i would stay away
I think its good to have more protein in your diet and if not, supplement it. Protein helps the muscles recover faster. But the key is to get proper sleep. You dont grow in the gym, you grow in the bed.
Hey, kind of digging up an older thread here, but I remember seeing this thread last month and thought I would post what I've been taking lately. Not sure if any of you have ever heard of MonaVie juice, but I've been drinking it for about 2 months now and have noticed some definite improviements with it. From my younger days of playing sports, I was having some bad pains in the beck of my right knee, especially after a detail or working around the house. I was developing a limp after initially getting up from sitting for a while, and I always had to stretch out my right leg when sitting on the floor with my kids. After about 2 weeks of drinking this stuff, the pain has gone away by about 70%. I'm not bs'ing here either. I signed up as a distributor and found out there are some financial benefits that may be realized as well. I don't want to come off as a schill or anything, but damn, this stuff seems to work. Here is a link to MonaVie's website: Mona·Vie™ It contains 19 different fruits in a juice blend, with the primary ingredient being the acai berry, which has received a lot of press lately for it's antioxidants. Anyway, check it out. Nica - if you feel this inappropriate, feel free to delete, but this stuff has actually worked for me and others I know here in St. Louis.
