Jason ... where do you currently perform your detailing work? I don't know if you remember me, but I met you once at your place.

I think it is all about getting legal in all respects. Good luck.

See if you can work out an exchange to allow you to use the garage if you pay him some rent.

this! if he's really against it, then yeah, you have to obey his rules, even tho you are against them ...

How can you say no to your kid for making money and having "entrepreneurship" ? :shead:

I always see detailing as a luxury goods. So, no matter it's depreciating asset, it's no make deal!

Stop detailing his car. If he doesn't get the message, we'll all make a road trip.

Are you a stepchild or something? That's a rule my stepdad would have come up with for sure! What a bastard.

Also, attention is what you want, it's the cheapest form of advertising. (Free) I always keep a stack of cards on me while I'm out detailing, someone else almost always asks if I'll do their car.

Attention is only bad if it's negative attention. Sometimes the real reason, and one that they won't tell you, is that they don't want to ring up the water bill. If you offer $5-$10 to them per detail for the water expense, they might be more receptive to it.

It always amazes me that people don't care about their car. It is the next biggest purchase besides a house. Do they care about their house? Ask him that. It's just like upkeeping a home. Your not going to let your house turn to sh*t.

To him it's not about the money, its about the family security and home security.

He doesn't want random strangers coming to the house.

that sux to hear man. You detail 4 cars in one day?!?! lol. I'd ask to see if picking up a car and bringing it back to your house would be okay.

other then that, you can try to find a one bay garage unit with low rent and do low key detailing.

I recommend the same thing. If you think you're going to continue detailing, find yourself a place which is secure enough that you can keep your supplies and equipment.

I don't think having a shop is a great idea since I am a full time student, right now I am thinking of doing mobile detailing while still being able to do the family cars at home.
