I think you can find the Megs's slidelock brushes for pretty cheap. You can adjust the stiffness/length by the slide. I use that dedicated to trim, and the Swissvax dedicated to wheels so I don't confuse the two.

I've got a slide lock as well and I have to say its been my biggest let down so far. I'm not impressed with it at all. No rigidity to the the bristles at any length. I'll stick to my natural bristle paint brushes. Far and away the best brushes for detailing. Not cheap, ($20 each) but they last forever.

I went to the Michaels near me when my sister picked up the picture frames my mom ordered. They were $5.49 each but I had a 40% off coupon. $2.20 off each so not bad for a few bucks. I haven't used them yet but will after I get my order for all my stuff. I'll let you guys know. Here are some crappy pics:

Hmm, if you can, go back and get the ones made in Germany. Those are bigger and more dense than the China ones and much better ;)

I'll give it a shot next time I'm back there. Thanks for the tip, wish I read this thread more carefully. I would have gotten the German ones instead. Oh well

Sure thing. I had both a while back so I know what they were like. Threw away the China one though haha

Yeah, I already gave them to my mom to go return next time. She's going to return the ones and get the German ones. How did you like the German ones? How does it compare to the Swisswax one if you;ve tried.

  8. I just picked up that same brush from Michael's last night. I'm not sure how well it's going to do though because when I touch the bristles, they already fall out. Hopefully they work out better on the car.

They seem really similar. The SV one my friend had was bigger by a little bit and just slightly stiffer. I have not had issues of bristles falling out though :thumb:

Thats good, I'll pick up a few. I hope they last!

  11. Where are the German ones at Michaels? Do they look the same? Picture?

Paint brush isle. If you are lucky they'll have it. If you are even luckier it'll be a good one like mine was ;)

  13. Hmm...I'll have to go look at mine and see if it says Germany on it. I know mine looks just like that one so hopefully it is German.

  14. Oh no!! Mine says China...I'm guessing that's a bad thing. So Michael's sells both German and Chinese brushes?

Looks that way. Mine even have the same brand on them - Loew-Cornell - but were made in China.

  16. That's exactly what mine say. I'll have to take a drive over there and see if I can find a German one.

With all the driving and buying more brushes you could have bought the real thing and been done with it.

  18. I was just thinking that.

I tried one of my Chinese-built Michael's brushes today. It seems fine. It's not as nice aas the SW brush, but then again, you can get three of them for the same money as one SW brush.

I have a SW brush - or, rather, I *had* one. I think I left it in a customer car - can't find it anywhere...

I just got the ones EYEZACK87 sent me ( thanks again!! ) The one made on Germany is far superior to the made in China one. The bristles weren't falling out on my China model, but the firmness in the bristles was way better. I'll us the China model on interiors where a less still bristle will be more beneficial. I used it on the ML93 I'll be posting shortly. Worked very well around emblems, bodyseams etc. A good buy. I still need to try a Swisswax version though.
