My Flex Review Part 1

300 is what I expected to pay anyways haha. That isn't too too bad for a 7.5 AMP polishing machine!! That is like 2 PCs and a little bit more. If 1 PC is $170
2 ($170) +18 <-- backing plate = $358. That is a savings of $58 ....LOL I like justifying my large purchases. Good tools cost good money! The Rona tool is 4.0 amps and it is about 1.5 times as fast as a PC. With 7.5 amps and forced rotation, this thing has bound to be fast. You could probably polish a medium to large SUV in 4ish hours. I hope the flex lives up to my high hopes and expectations. I really like the fact that it has a 6" backing plate. I need to get one for testing...Time to go to Germany....DB plane trip hahaha.

 

Talking with Flex I found out I have the only machine in North America with the new backing plate design. I told Flex I'm going to throw it on eBay. LOL

North America is waiting on more to arrive. I called Powerhouse and they said NA is out and should have them after Thanksgiving. I am on the list. lol PH is cheaper than AG. I knew they were looking into them since they let that thread go for so long. I have them figured out.

 

I was talking to Robert of Flex (North American President) and he said no more till January! We have ours ordered. It makes me wonder if AG just took all they had or I wonder if AG will have a delayed date?

 

Well then I will take his word for it then. lol but I hope it is after thanksgiving for us.

 

It is quite possible that there is another shipment coming in that is already sold out and we just missed out on it. At least it is Fall. It would suck having to wait 1.5 months in mid summer!

 

Wow, the Flex is already sold out until mid January of next year?

You know I actually asked permission to post the review on AG and was really surprised when I got a "Go right Ahead" reply. Should have known that something was up!

 

Hah, yes, you should have Wolf! Have you guys noticed that anyone affiliated with AG will NEVER post a comment when a vehicle is done and some non-AG product is used?

LOL do you remember the first reviews of the UDM? It seemed like the ultimate detailing machine...it could remove 2000 grit sanding marks...no vibration and very well built. It seemed like it could end world hunger and bring about world peace, but fast forward to now. Yes, many people like it, but you do hear a lot of reviews about problems. I am sure they will all be worked out with time though.

I am not sure if I am buying it in Mid Jan. or mid Feb. The thing is I know Chris is going to sell all of them in no time...and I hate waiting...but I just need more reviews. The UDM scared me.

PS: don't get me wrong with this post. The UDM has its place...I just don't feel that it meets my needs or lives up to my expectations of what it was supposed to be.

 

Haha, the problem is I don't know how it will play out long term. Hell I would have brought it trusting your review alone. If it doesn't work I can use it for other things....convert it into a sander LOL! If I know myself I will be buying one in January...but I am just not sure I should haha. I have a gut feeling telling me to wait, and a brain telling me to buy buy buy.

 

Alright I will take your advice. You are forgetting I am from Canada, where -40C or -40F isn't unheard of. There are a good number of days where it is too cold to talk outside let alone detail.

how did you get involved with using te flex? like how did you find it?
