D151 is a great product. For deeper defects I just step up to a wool pad and knock them out. Its a very pad dependent product. It uses the same non- diminishing abrasives as 105 which is another great product.

FILLERS!!! Been there, tried it, and it DEFINATLY fills instead of corrects. It has now been thrown out as I do not wish to have something with fillers in my arsenal, if I'm going to do it I'm going to do it right.

I met with Gregk today and discussed his D151 experience with the VW.. it got me thinking about my tester cars and I realized that I've been mostly working with soft clears (Honda/Acura). I'm not sure if Ford trucks are supposed to be soft or not, but soft clears may have biased my opinions on D151's abilities.

The M105 is without a doubt way stronger than the #151. Working by hand the first few passes felt really gritty (almost like sandpaper), then it quickly smoothed out . By rotary it works like a mother for a few seconds, then flashes out like lightning.

Used together, this combo is an incredibly powerful addition to anyones' arsenal of products. I would definitely recommend trying the #151 with stronger pads before stepping up to the #105 because it's kinda' like switching from a rifle to a cannon.

    Just my 2 cents :afro:

Do you care to explain more about your experience with 151?

Well, it pretty much is an AIO after all so I wouldn't be surprised that it actually fills. To me, it doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad thing as some clients are only willing to pay for this type of service and nothing more. However on my own personal vehicle, I may or may not use depending on how much it actually fills.

From what I've been reading on this lately, every compound requires some kind of lubricating agent that will to some degree or other act like a "filler" .
After an IPA wipedown most "fillers" will disappear (e.g. silicone or oil), but not all (e.g. kaolin clay) . From what I felt when applying by hand there is definitely abrasive correction happening with these products.

I used D151 on a black c300 Mercedes owned by a very "inexpensive" customer today. The car was in very good shape as the car is only 6 months old and I did it when it was new. All the car needed was some protection and a tiny bit of swirl removal and D151 did a good job of doing just that. I used D151 with the Rotary on a white pad at 1500rpm. I sprayed OCW on the car when removing and gave it another spray for some extra protection.

I was going to try "just" D151 on a Lexus as well for another "value customer" but it had large scratches throughout, so I just went to M105 with the PFW pad. It did a fantastic job and looked almost LSP ready when I was done. I just did another Toyota and found similar results with M105 and PFW. I then used D151 on a white pad on the rotary with the same OCW techniques. I looked great and the customer was floored.

I think the D151 has some filling properties(it has wax in it, so there will always be some filling) but there is also some swirl removal as well. Used with a rotary, it does remove smaller swirls but does not remove them like a true compound or polish. With softer paints and with old abused paint that don't make sense for multi step jobs it is a great choice. It is meant for large production use like used car lots etc. and for that purpose it is great.

Now that I've had a couple of days to play with this I'm starting to see the limitations of #151.
It can't hit that hard... You'll need to combo it with #105 to deal with the heavy stuff.

Now M105... that's going to have to be the topic of my next thread... I've nicknamed it "The Hammer" :claping:

so who has used the 151 with a DA? (Like PC 7424). Thinking about using this as a final step with the DA after a pass with M105

I was given a sample of D151 a while back. I used it a few times and the bottle of it is not collecting dust. I didn't find anything great about it. Compared to my favorite AIO Poli-Seal, it's not in the same league. D151 may contain more abrasives (or just a lot more fillers), but Poli-Seal is so easy to use and produces such GREAT results for an AIO that I don't see any benefit to D151 over PS, unless you're working on something really trashed and want a lot of fillers.

Overall, I think Poli-Seal has just the right about of chemical cleaners, abrasives, and wax/sealant protection. If I need something stronger, I just mix a little OP or OC with it.

I have I started out with an orange pad and finished with a green pad on a UDM, I use pfw pad with m105 souly to take car of big scratches. The D151 and orange pad took out the rest.
