Making your own Top Inspection?

What do you guys think about making your own Menzerna Top Inspection type product? You think mixing some ONR with a solution of alcohol/water or something like Wurth Clean Solve would produce a product like this top inspection stuff?

The goal is to produce something that can clean any and all residue after polishing, but reduce the risk of re-marring the surface by having some lubricant in the mixture. Basically doing the job of top inspection for much cheaper, if I'm understanding that product right.

Do you think something like this would work? Are those solvents something that can be mixed with ONR or a similar lube or QD product?

 

ONR, or DP 4-in-1 should work well for this.

 

I'm thinking it should, but am on on the right track here with the alcohol/water solution or the clean solve? will they mix well with a lube like ONR and keep in a bottle?

 

I'm no chemist but just my intuition...any who, I wonder if the Alcohol would break down the ONR?

Sorry not much help but seeing as how strong the alcohol is I can't help but think it would break down the ONR.

That sure would be nice. The smell of alcohol is starting to be a little to much for a old man like me...:shrug:

 

I wouldnt use ONR or any QD. Whats wrong with water and alcohol?

 

I figured mixing with some ONR or a mixture like that would produce a product that both cleaned better and didnt risk marring a freshly polished surface, especially if you were wiping away heavy polishing dust.

I haven't tried top inspection, but do I have the right idea about what it can do?

Something like 50/50 alcohol water with some ONR mixed in.

Im just wondering if the alcohol, or even something like clean solve, would destroy the ONR or QD mixed in.

 

well one way to find out is... JUST DO IT. what's the harm in experimenting. Mix em to your liking til you're satisfied. if it fails, then it fails. what if it works.. don't forget to share your remarks.

 

ONR and QD's could react with the polish and make it act funny, thats why I wouldnt use either of those. I dont really think theres a need to use ONR at all, but thats just me.

Some parrafin oil, prepsol and detail spray with good cleaners would be a good mix
The parrafin is a great lubricant
