Here you go...... ClubEL.ca :: Canada's EL and CSX Automotive Community - View Single Post - my experience with the MacBook thus far To give you an idea, I'm a very very meticulous person, even moreso when it comes to stuff like this. I like it to be in mint shape at all times. Heck, my MacBook is swirl free, lol.
kaval.. you gotta be banging that thing around.. my alienware beast that weighs 13lbs is in near mint condition. it has an fx60 desktop processor, 17 inch clear view screen 7800go vid card 2 gigs of ram and a 200 gb hd in raid 0 format. i had to send her back once for a new motherboard. other than that the system has been flawless. and i don't have any cracks.. and the powerbooks we have they don't have a crack or chip on them either. either that cheap plastic on the white ones is really that cheap or you really bang that thing when you set it down. all the area's pictured are contact points even the monitor is if you set it upside down.. damn you really beat the hell out of that thing!!
Trust me when I say this, I am extremely anal about my stuff. I rest it down gently all the time, like I would with any of my things. Especially since this plastic is so soft, I know that if I put it down at the wrong angle, it will dent. I also have kept all the plastic on the machine since having it serviced to help keep any scratches from coming up. There's not much more I can do besides not using it. Furthermore it only gets transported when I go to class, which is 3 times a week for a 15 minute walk. After that, it's plugged in to an external monitor, keyboard, mouse. With that said, I am blown away at how crappy these cases are made. Apple said that the cracking is a documented issue. They replaced the casing with no questions asked. I had an IBM Thinkpad R51 that was being leased through Ryerson as part of the ITM program. I used to beat the hell out of that thing, and it never showed a sign of abuse. I used to throw it, drop it (not on purpose of course) toss it around with my bag, etc. It kept going and going. It seems like you look at the Macbook the wrong way and it falls to pieces. lol.
hmm..interesting good to know there kaval, I honestly haven't had any issues with my Mac, keeps working like charm and by no means am I as careful with it as you
so has this been resolved? good thing i found this section so at least i can help forum with something a+/apple certified tech
Was just killing time and found this thread. I've had my MacBook Pro for 18 months and no issues other than the short battery life. What is the locking/hanging up you guys are discussing?
Short battery life really, not me I can use the Mac for hours and I find the battery lasts a long time...well compared to my other regular laptops  I usually get at least 3hrs with my Mac...well probably more but I just clicked on the battery icon on mine and it's currently at the half mark and I still have 2hrs left to use
if you keep batter in and use ac adapter, it kills batter because batter can be charged so many times and if you keep batter with ac pluged in, it charges and discharges batter, apple is little better with that then other computer companies though
Thats my problem! I took my Macbook to Florida last year so my kids could watch movies on the plane and like Nica said, it ran for hours. The battery has only gone for a shit in the last 5 or 6 months. Thanks for the insight. Any idea where the best place to buy a battery is? Right now I'm getting about an hour out of mine.
