This is an excellent point. As much as I like Aquawax - and I do like it a lot - I found that it "brightened up" the fresh Jetseal/RBOE tag team I put on the S2000 recently.

Sorry Solidsnake but waxing does not not remove clearcoat. There are no abrasives in wax or sealant so its just not physically possible.

Waxing too often will not dull your paint. I agree that the waxes of 15 years ago would actually cause a paint to yellow in some instances ( saw it happen on a clients Bronco) but with the waxes and sealants available today, you could add a layer every month with no side effects.

My guess would be that, as already mentioned here, your friend is using improper washing and drying techniques and that can easily dull your finish in no time.

Realistically, your car only needs to be clayed once or twice a year. I do my clients in the spring and thats it. Twice a year would be the max though unless you live or work near an area wheres there is an abnormal amount of industrial fallout.

Before you choose your product, you need to decide wether you are just going to add some shine or add protection. Your decision will add time and thus cost to the job. I wouldn't be charging someone for a wax for anything that lasts less than 4 months. All you are going to do is upset your clients when the shine is gone before 60 days. Aquawax is an awesome product and since Richy recommended it to me I'm now buying it in gallons but I don't tell people its adding any kind of protection. I really like Optimum Spray Wax but can't validate their claim of 5 months. In the time it takes to spray and wipe something, you could have applied a coat of DG 105 which will last at least 4-6 months. Remember, most people have probably been burned by a poor detailer or know someone who has so you have to be careful what you promise.

Yes, Richy is cheap but he knows a great product when he sees it! LOL

Don't like Aquawax? Who is this guy? Can we have him banned please! LOL

    :sorry:
haha, yes it is true I am not a Aquawax user, I actually gave my bottle to Karl. I dont know, I use OID and it gave me the look and feel that I wanted. Aquawax for me when I used it one or two times just didnt work for me, it was probably user error but I prefer OID instead. Who knows maybe I will try it down the line, but for now I have a lot of OID left.

Thanks again for the input people! I'm gathering that maybe my lazy ass just wants to spray and wipe. I would like to have something that would last more then a month or 2 and applying the wax by hand seems to be a strong option as well.

Maybe I can try the DG 105, DG AW and Opti Spray Wax and see what comes out of it. I have access to that many test cars (besides who wouldn't want their car waxed for free).

Again :worship2: Thanks!. I will let you know what I decide and which one I liked best.

P.S. Hey guys, be gentle on Solidsnake... I'm sure he means no harm. He mentioned that he was going by what his buddy told him and his friend may not have been telling him the complete truth about how things lead up to the problem.

I kind of gathered that the type of wax I wanted to use didn't have any cleaning properties to it (I mean it only says so on some of the manufacturers label).

P.S.S. Ken, would one coat of DG 105 (look at me dropping codes like I know what I'm talking about:p:) be enough for a 4-5 mth coverage from what you've experienced? Just reading over your comment, I should have a clear view on what protects, i.e, DG 105 and what possibly only shines DG AW, am I right?

I realize Solidsnake was fed misinformation and thats why guys were posting to help him understand a little better, thats all. You wouldn't believe the crap I was being fed 15 years ago when I first started! I would thing one coat of 105 would give you 4-5 months quite easily.

Am i the only one that love Autoglym aqua wax? lol. Tried ag aqua wax, opt car wax and seen dg aqua wax and i actually preferred Ag aqua wax. the only reason is because i love the smell. AG aqua wax also seems thicker than dg aqua wax and opt car wax. Anyway, i may have judge wrongly and may be ken could confirm this since he should have access to these waxes. But if ya talking about price that dg aqua wax certainly top the chart..

prima hydro is good and i get 4 weeks out of it plus it has fillers (great for in between polishes)

I'm curious though as to spray waxes that actually replenish the wax i put on...meaning if i put a coat of swissvax what spray wax or detailer is going to boost the look again w/o involving sealants...

If you charge for a wash 'n wax, then I would just get out your favorite wax or sealant and apply that. I agree with some of the others, I never clay unless I'm doing a light polish.
