The IPA wipedown is the prep in this case. Apply the Menz. Wait one hour so it will out gas. you can put another coat of FMJ if you want. So you get 100% coverage and awsome durablity. wait another hour For out gasing and then put your Smargrd or not one coat of FMJ is good. You won't believe your eyes But don't do both IPA and Prep-All it is doing the same thing...:thumb:

Maybe it's a matter of geographical location. Here in Virginia we are move than half-way through winter, and I'm looking forward to the arrival of spring in April. The concern for durability simply is not pressing for me at the moment, not like it was back in late October/early November, when my concern then was to apply protection that would get me through the winter months.

But once we hit April, my goal is to get my car looking as good as I can, given the limitations of time, skill, and product. I fully expect to wax my car every 4-8 weeks. I fully expect to clean the paint at least once between my major spring detail and my major fall detail. I assume that even with weekly washing, carnauba wax experiences degradation due to ultraviolet radiation, acid rain, and just ordinary dirt and grime. I imagine that the same is true for synthetic sealants. Washing does not remove all contamination. Even if the protection endures, the car isn't looking as good as it might otherwise if the paint were being cleaned and waxed more frequently. As Dodo Dom Colbeck has written:

I only feel this way about my personal car. As far as my wife's car ... well ... the less frequently I have to wax or seal it the better. But for my Luthien, that's a different story.

So if 'm going to wax my car with Swissvax Smaragd or any other fine expensive wax, I'm certainly not going to apply it on top of a sealant, no matter how durable the sealant may be. After all, I intend to wax again long before the sealant fails.

Perhaps there will come a time when I grow tired of waxing and durability will become my principal concern, but for the present I am happy to wax my car every month or two. I enjoy the process and I enjoy the results.

yep wax is for looks anyways, not durability. Durability and looks are compromises I think no matter what anyonw advertises.

I have found that a product called SWAX addresses both.
