Is it still true you have to wait 30-45 days...

I'm getting some aftermarket bits sanded and resprayed. I have been told that application of a clear bra follows the same rules as any product application. However, the body shop doing the work was convinced that the bra could be put on immediately. When I questioned them on the subject, they still insisted it was safe but would NOT give me a written guarantee:shakehead:

So, needless to say, I'm going to wait until the paint 'gasses' off.

Anyway, is a spray wax okay for application after a respray (specifically the Einszett product)?

A wax doesn't form a molecular bond with a paint surface, it does however form a 'hard' shell, which will negate the outgas process.

Do not place a clear covering (clear brs) for the same reason

Got it. Thanks. But then what the heck do I do until the paint cures? Paint job ain't cheap, so I don't want to get it rock chipped. As I see it, I have 2 options. 1) Leave in the garage for a month (possible, but I would go thru car withdrawal), 2) smurf it up with painters tape if I decide to take it out within the first month. Any other suggestions?

Does anyone have proof/evidence that "using heavy polishing abrasives" or Clear Bras will damage fresh paint or "negate" its curing?

I'd say wait 60-90 days.. I got my car repainted early this year, can't wait to clear out all the holograms and swirl marks from body shop. At the end of 30 days, finally did some polish & wax but a couple of weeks later I could see small fisheyes scattered on some places. It looks like little paint bubble which just popped out. The car was oven-baked and I live in tropical area, during 30 days the car was exposed to outdoor & extremely hot sunshine most of the day and it still didn't cure properly.

Polish can be done, i know some of them are body shop safe. I used meguiars products and they have such label on the bottle, but waxing is a big no no, it clogged up the paint pore hence the solvent couldn't evaporate properly

Fish eyes are from poor paint prep, not from waxing fresh paint. Those bubbles were there, you just didn't notice them.

Fisheyes can come from deodorants/soaps/air fresheners/...etc.....silicone is the number 1 cause though. Also if your compressor has bad rings it can blow oil into your air-supply....you ought to see when that happens....
