Hey guys just wanted to post this detail of my wife's MDX that I did over the weekend. All the products I used I purchased at brick and mortar stores w/in 15 miles of my house. Why? Well long story short I took my detailing supplies down to TX to detail my moms new SUV and drop off my truck to repair all the hail damage from the hail we had 4th of July weekend ($6k).

Well, Let's start off with the befores:

Pictures don't really show how dirty it was. Car hadn't been washed in a few weeks and we had some rain. Also it was time to top the LSP.

First we start with the wash products
    2 home depot buckets
    1 mop bucket
2 gritguards (ok so maybe not OTC)
misc brushes for tires, wheels and under body.
eagle one a to z wheel and tire cleaner
    lowes grout sponge
    meguiars gold class shampoo
    Viking MF drying towel

start with the wheels and tires

Next I did the wheel wells:

Why you should use a dedicated bucket for wheels:

    Wash, Rinse, and dry:

    Clay, LSP

    Clayed with Automagic Blue
    Sealed with Duragloss dg111
    QD with duragloss dg521
    sealed rims with dg 951

    Clay:

not to bad after the hood and both fenders:

    Dressings:
    Duraglass 321 Non Silicone Dressing
    No touch wet tire shine

DG 321 for the tires and bumpers
no touch for the wheel wells

No paint correction as i left my buffers in TX and yes it does need to be polished. sorry for no sun shots as it rained after i put the car in the garage.

Overall I'm pretty happy about my detail w/o my special boutique products, and has me questioning if they really are worth it.

let me know what you guys think!

I think boutique stuff really shines through on producst like compound, polish, pads, LSP and abviously, tools.

too be honest, I buy a lot of stuff locally, too.

Mop bucket FTMFW! I use one for wheels, keep the tools in the mop spot above the water. Nice job.

Looks great! I'm sure she was happy, or at least you were.

I buy stuff locally, but what I buy locally is Megs and Duragloss from the paint shop and Zep of course from HD.

You can definitely see that this was a job done only with OTC garbage. Horrible. How dare you post this crap on DB???

    :p:

See there is the problem. It wouldnt have rained so quickly if you used the Glasur and all your other cool stuff... There's more to it than you think..
