MAN..... sooooooo glad you posted this Norcal, as this brings back ALOT of memories for myself. Mainly because I was stationed on that base for 5 out of my 6 years in the Air Force, as a crew chief on the U-2's. Thats 104 feet of wingspan there, all filled with fuel.

On the UAV.... you were probably thinking about the predator, as they are MUCH smaller. That UAV is called the Global Hawk, and is quite large. It was just getting stationed at Beale when I left there in 05.

Thanks for posting, looks like it was a BLAST!!

By the way, did you get to go on a mobile ride while you were there?? Where you ride with the pilot as he follows the U-2 in for the landing telling him how high he is off the deck?? Hopefully you did, cause its a pretty fun ride!!

Not on a mobile ride with the U2 coming in ,but I did ride in the cars they now use which were white Pontiac G8's they have six of them along with the old Z-28 Camaro's. I wanted to see the SR-71 but it was a no-go................ I was in the Navy in the eighties and this IS the biggest base I have ever been on, had to be a 20 square miles at least(no s**t) and the Air Force lives ALOT better than navy sailors hands down.
