The ridgid 4070 is not bad. I also bought the orange detail kit, so total around $150.
I think the vacmaster and the ridgid 4070 will have the same suction power. See if you can test both out at the Home Depot.

My local HD does not carry the Vacmaster. Not sure what is going on with Vacmaster but alot of places are out of stock. I will be buying the Vacmaster...better value and wall mountable IMO.

Yea I know right? I broke one of the attachments so I don't think I can return it anymore. I'm going to try and call Rigid tomorrow and see what they have to say, I tried for at least 20 minutes.

I contacted Vacmaster and they are expecting to start shipping to retailers next week. I will keep an eye on Costco.com...they should have the best price. Just hope they will carry the VWM510 again.

I've been looking at Rigid wet/dry vacs, as they seem to be the best deals. Craigslist is a no go, there's nothing anywhere near here :p I was wondering though, if a smaller unit would be adequate--I predict I'll be doing a fair amount of mobile detailing and either way, I'll have to haul my vacuum up/down a few flights of steps every time I use it, as I'll be storing it in the attic of the house when I'm not using it. I was thinking along the lines of this one...http://www.homedepot.com/Cleaning/h...=10053&langId=-1&keyword=ridgid&storeId=10051. It's a 2.5 hp vs 5 hp...will that be enough power? A lot of the cars I get tend to be pretty dirty (lots and lots of dd's and family haulers) so my jobs tend to require a lot of vacuum power.

Well, I went ahead and bought the 2.5 horsepower 6 gallon unit. I've done two cars with it so far, and I have to say that it worked fantastic! I'm used to a giant shopvac, with a huge bulky hose that makes an awful loud noise...I much prefer this vacuum. Maybe not quite as much sucking power, but it is so portable, I love it.

Vacmasters are back in stock. I went ahead and ordered one from Home Depot. They have the best price and a great return policy.

for $108, it is going to be a good and portable wet/dry vacuum.

I think the ridgid 4070 has the same suction power as the vacmaster.

Craftsman rebranded the vacmaster. My guess is that is what kobalt is doing too since they got rid of their last one. I got it from sears for $93 in store.
