The images work to me to due to low noise for a low llight shot. I have seen many sunsets in pics but usually the high iso noise creeps in to ruin the color saturation in the shadows.
bump for new page viewing thanks nica! it was an adventure just getting there haha they were shot at ISO 100 which i regret because the trees aren't as sharp as I'd like them to be.
Spec, I finally found out what you meant about taking 100 shots and only being happy with 4 or 5...LOL Excellent photos as usual. Now I'm thinking I'd like to add couple more lenses to my stable.
That is what you should expect. This is why you should take lots of pictures. The real feature to use is bracketing if you have exposure problems. It can help insure you get those tough shots such as the low light sunset or metering confusing backlit situations. On the Nikon DSLR's I have used it is easy to activate and deactivate. Yes, you get 3 times as many pics but usually one of the under or overs is a better pic and requires less pp.
I usually just leave my DSLR in continuous mode because I know I shouldn't be shooting for "THE ONE" shot, if you know what I mean. However, it's kind of a pain going through all the pictures since I'm still learning but oh well, haha.
yeah! I took the same shot of each one of those for an average of 6 times each to ensure the right exposure and sharpness. I still wasn't happy with how not sharp the trees are. It's hard to tell on the 2.5" LCD screen.. Thanks for the comment Lenses are very addicting... I'm adding a 50mm 1.4 after a few more details, and a 60mm macro or 105mm macro lens to my collection eventually too. The addiction never ends!!! Yeah, I learned I should use it now. Also, you should turn it off before you end up going through a million pictures when you only took five haha. i shot each of these 6+ times, so I was just zooming in on each one and editing for which one I liked best. After just 50 shots I was :waiting2:. I don't know the pros do it.
In the sunset pics, the sky is a different color in one pic so some do not have the same color balance. Which one is closer to real -- the purple or blue. I am thinking the more purple sky looks more realistic but the blue looks nice.
Blue was actually the closer to natural version. I lowered the white balance on the blue ones to get a clearer, blue sky. On the purple one, white balance was set somewhere near 8000K iirc. I liked it a lot with the lower contrast, so I just kept going according to that.
