dont worry happens to best of us. yes those HRE are bare aluminum. i did set last summer and took me 8 hours to restore lip and centers on all 4 wheels
uses mother powerball mini and optimum metal polish. for that recessed lip i used small stick with microfiber to do clean up. couldnt really polish it that much couse of location.

    I feel for you....
To get them properly done, you do need to remove the center. Bear in mind, the nut in the rear is a one time nut. So you need to get new nuts, retorque back to spec, etc....

To send them any refinisher, you will need to break it down *dismount*, pack, wrap, and ship and then remount and balance again....

The issue is the area you are dealing with, you will go through many Q-Tips and with ALOT of pateience, you should be able to get it better but results may vary. You WANT to avoid using the polish on the center....

    Been there, done that........

FWIW, clearcoat is not your universal answer. It's about picking your own poison.

No clearcoat, you need to maintain frequently.

With clearcoat, IF , you get a chip that continues along the same region, then you have a half CC wheel and half splotchy wheel ;-)

getting a stone chip on a cleared wheel is no different to getting a stone chip on a cleared bonnet or bumper

natch you wouldnt want to hit that area with high pressure and make it worse

Totally agree. My girlfriend has wheels with non-cleared lips on her 3 series and it is a pain to try and maintain!

stingray - hope you get it all sorted out. post pics up after wards!

I have a question. I have a PC with a bunch of pads. Can I use them to restore my wheels?

Why not get a 2K areosol spray clear, it would solve the problem
