Threads are always better with pictures, so here you go. So far, it looks like a new hood, latch, grilles and bumper are in order. Does anyone know the best way to handle this? I am thinking of going through insurance, but I'm unsure of how exactly to report this issue.
1) call the insurance company. 2) explain the accident 3) get the car looked at 4) estimates 5) ??? 6) profit pretty simple, really.
Haha yes, I've got that much down. I've got places to get parts and work done too. I'm just unsure of what to report this as. I have AAA insurance in CA.
Ouch, poor bimmer , I'd report it as a collision, if that's even an option  Don't really know much insurance stuff :sorry:
I would guess once you call the insurance they will let you know what needs to be done. I will say that you have come out pretty lucky from a dear hit, I have seen some pics from deer hits, even at low speeds, that did alot more damage than that. Hope you get her fixed up soon and well!
that's what i was thinking, but i was looking for more of a why Yeah it's not that bad. I'm just a bit disappointed that it actually happened. Also I'm very lucky that nothing mechanical is damaged that I can see. There's a small dent on the fender too. :thud:
What is your deductible? Remember, even if you report this to your insurance company, and then you don't go through them, it will still be recorded and chances are, you insurance will go up. So, if you call, be sure about it first!
Make sure you specify that you hit a deer. Every state is different, but it should fall under comprehensive. But then again, I don't know how it works in Cali.
500 deductible, but that doesn't cover it at all. Yeah I've been hearing that. The guy at the shop told me to just say it was a hit and run.
Not necessarily. If not finds are paid out, then you should be fine. Just gotta find out if in CA, comprehensive go against your policy, i.e. increase your premium. A Collision coverage would claim would in crease your premium. Best thing to do is to contact your agent, they should have all your answers for you, prior to even reporting the claim.
Great time to get some aftermarket parts. Insurance gives you money, you spend the money on getting the car fixed with new parts done. When our crap family car got rear-ended, there was very minor damage. Spent the money on my college text books instead :mounty:
Lucky your Airbags didn't deploy. Or have the Deer jump thru your windshield. :yikes: Shouldv'e strapped that bad boy to the Hood and bought him home to dress :chips: If you Know someone in the Body Repair biz, you stand to gain some jac if you play your cards right :cig: Glad to see no one was Hurt...Well except maybe Bambi :giggle: :shead: I hope my answer hasn't offended anyone, as I only have 1 strike left :banned:
you should have thrown it on ur car as flash said and grilled some nice venison steaks. such good meat mhhmmm....but i think next time you should make a police report if you want to report it as a legit accident. Not sure how it all works out but my mom hit a deer, well technically she was going like 25mph and it jumps towards her so it hit her lol caused major damage to her trucks' hood, light and fender. Had it al covered and I dont think her insurance went up either edit:
hmmm we have public insurance up here and they pretty much pay for free no charge if its animal caused damage..
can you explain how exactly this works? i went to a body shop today, and the guy is pretty cool. he told me to report it as a hit and run for a number of reasons including it won't raise our insurance.
Two big reasons why NOT to report it as such. A. There will be deer hair somewhere in the grill, undercarriage, etc.... appraisers look for this B. Hate to rain on your parade, but reporting as such is insurance fraud. A lot of questioning is involved with a hit & run loss. Proceed at your own risk. Wanted to inform how it works on the other side :tiptoe:
