My friend is an insurance agent and just signed someone for $1200 per year with $1M in coverage and a 1k deductible in NJ. I'm not sure if this is high or low.
thats less than what i pay, but not by much. This is also the first year ive been on my own insurance.
I've been snooping around for insurance and I think that the first year is the worst for premiums and whatnot.
Heh, yes thats generally how it works I got a bit of a rebate having a good 6 years driving experience under my belt, and having a 4 door. "safe" car in a GTI. had i bought something like an STI or even a MS3 i would have paid much more.
That's pretty cheap, we paid about $1900 here in Texas, which is separate from the work van insurance cost. -Kody-
Your talking about car insurance right, we pay $7200 a year, 2 cars, 4 drivers. Insurance rates in your country are very good.
You're kidding right?! You must have some young drivers in your house if your paying $7200... or your two cars are supercars...
A lot of things attribute to high insurance rates for example, we live in a area with high priced cars and low skilled drivers (If you know what I am talking about). I'm 21 and my sister is 19, dad and mom have 15 years of driving under the belt but we all have been unlucky on the roads, even if people hit us (If happened to me first week on getting the "new" car, someone ran a red and removed the front half of the hood). Our premium went up so that's why, some of my friends actually have insurance for Winnipeg and they only pay like $50/month.
Yes... I know exactly what your talking about. I didn't realize your insurance could go up when the accident isn't your fault. I was rear ended last winter (not my fault) and my insurance remained the same. Hopefully your rates will be reduced considerably in the coming year with accident free driving. Having said that, our insurance system in Ontario really is horrible.
Well that is kind of a obviously not your fault type of accident, when the police officer came by the opposing driver told the story and switched him for my self so the accident was deemed "no one at fault" Both our insurances went up
Well insurance gets much cheaper once you hit the age of 25. My insurance is well over $2000 a year. Before I switched companies, I was paying about $4000. My driving record is clean but it's because of the car I drive. Mine happened to trump the list when this was compiled: Top Ten Most Expensive Cars to Insure in Canada
Woah. You guys have it expensive, or you have bad driving records. My brand new Scion costs just over $1000 to insure for a whole year, in a high traffic, metropolitan area (Montreal). It's insured under my wifes name (she "owns" the car on paper), who is still under 25 (I am registered as second driver - I'm 25), and it's covered "both sides/two way". ...but this isn't an answer to the original question
It's brutal... they want $350/month for a CRV. 3 Cars= 3 Primary Drivers. This alone was a driving factor in my parents not getting another car and me waiting out until I can afford it. Insurance sucks in Ontario! My cousin in the states was paying $100/month when he owned a Camaro Z28 not too long ago (and was relatively young).
So many variables in insurance rates. Here's mine: $2,460 per year for my 2011 STI. I am in NJ, I drive 12K miles per year. 27 year old male with plenty of speeding tickets and accidents, but I've been squeaky clean for the past several years, knock on wood.
